Delving stone needed to begin first level 1 delving mission?

I am unsure on how to start my first tier 1 mission. Do I need a stone before I start the very first delving mission? I am told that there should have been a stone mailed to me when I logged in, but I never received a stone via the in game mail.

A few concessions: You must own Before the Shadow expansion. You must be at level cap. There is a bug in which you might not get the mail on the legendary server.

Generally you will receive the mail to point you the way but that is all it does. You can buy a beginning gem at the barterer. You can also pay the price to upgrade or continue building the tiers by doing more delvings. You will find missions scattered about. Thank you for that. I am on Treebeard, and my toon is at level cap - 65. I also purchased the base edition of BTS. If it is a bug, I guess I will have to wait until its sorted out :-(

You should still be able to start it by bartering for a gem.

Just check with the mission barter for the gem costs in gold bags and buy the requisite amount from a vault keeper.

Now the only question is, are you a high roller and have the buy-in for the main table or want to nickel and dime your way up? Just remember there are no "tells", "bluffing" and a "pokerface" in this game, of pure chance.

You can purchase your first Delving gem from the NPC vendor near a missions giver in Before the Shadow if you didn't get your in-game mail on Treebeard.
