Hopefully the non-capstone buffs are good.
I agree, the skill does seem wonky. Another thing that I found kind of funny about shadow's lament is that since it's both high damage AND high threat (instead of being one or the other), any cap that is performing a dps role in a group probally can't use it for fear of pulling aggro off the tank, which is a bummer if it happens to be one of the cap's more powerful attacks... Other than that, the upgrades seem really interesting.

Ironically, the only facet of this I don't like comes because my main is a burglar. Seeing yet another class that can trigger conjunctions makes me feel even more like the burglars' signature ability is being watered down again. Any chance we could get the cooldown on the kick ability?

[Edit: After talking with a kin mate, and keeping in mind the guardians' 'turn the table' skill, my burglarish disappointment is somewhat mitigated. It will still be disappointing to see every class with a skill that has a chance of starting a conjunction, which I expect is inevitable, but so it goes. I will enjoy having it with my captain. )
Just think, now on your captain you will feel right at home, because you won't be completely devoid of conj's. (Like going over from my minstrel and not being completely devoid of heals .) You will be mini-you

One concern: Our Corruption removal skill is a 3rd tier skill, Improved Blade of Elendil (so we might even need to trait it to get the Corruption removal), where other classes seem to have them as first tier. So without knowing exactly what Corruptions do other than "you'll want to remove them", the soloing Captain is going to be stuck suffering through these mob buffs/player debuffs for 3 hits before we get a chance to remove one... if our Cry isn't resisted. ... What's the deal with that?

A question: Muster Courage is getting a self-heal with a trait but prevents a Herald. Is the heal associated with it roughly the same as the Lend Will heal from the Herald? Or is it greater or lesser (since it has half the Lend Will CD timer)? Is it a direct heal or a HoT?

And like the other poster, I also agree that having a Threat generating skill as a On-Defeat skill seems kind of silly.
Minstrel shouting: Get these guys off me!
Captain: I need to kill something first!

It's fine when there's a Normal level mob in the group, or you have a DPS group that can burn an elite down in a few seconds, but if you've got a group of elites it could be a little bit before you'll be able to use your On-Defeat.

From the Lead the Charge set.
Might be nit picky, but considering the only picture we've (I've) seen of a Captain Legendary weapon was a one-handed Mace... If you're not going with Lead the Charge, will you be expected to be using other weapons without the +Threat? A one-hand and a shield perhaps?
    Boo if so.

Overall, pretty interesting... But I'll still have to wait and see for myself
IMPORTANT UPDATE!!! BATTLE SHOUT BEING RESISTED DOES NOT STOP US FROM USING DEVASTATING BLOW/PRESSING ATTACK ANYMORE!!!!! SHOUT IT OUT TO ALL YOUR CAPTAIN FRIENDS!!!!!

Better stop yelling before I get hoarse. This is a fact, however.

If you need your on-defeat skill that badly, you can always use Time of Need (every once in a while obviously) or hope for boggarts/pale-folk.

As to the weapons, I would say, no more so than now. You can still choose your weapon at will. However, if you are a healer Captain, they do have a legacy now on legendary weapons (all legacies are still randomly assigned to all weapons within a class) that will reduce your threat from healing.

Won't IDOME also scale up as we level?

Overall I'm quite impressed. Finally an archer! If I can't use a bow, then damned sure someone is! Course, it doesn't allow simultaneous use of banners, but with a banner quickslotted you can start off with the archers piercing the evil-doers a bit, then shift over the banner and plant it if you wanted.

and resummon your archer for every single mob? naaaw thanks
frankly i think the archer is quite useless.. after all we are a buffing class and taking our banners from us is like taking the mezz off a lore master... and such a thing when using the so called "utility" traitline.. not very impressed with leader of men i gotta say

other than that i like the changes and i will definitely check out the dps traitline

only thing i'm concerned about is what i heard about the buffs so far..
i like the fact that it's possible to increase the current tactics buffs via legacies (although i did expect an improvement of the buffs all by themselves) what i do not like however is that idome won't improve at all (unless there's another legacy?) after all minstrels prolly will see their fate/will buff increased to 70/70 aswell.
and according to some captains that were in the beta the banner buffs will only increase marginally. it could be worse i guess but banners are still our 2nd strongest buff ability so i could have wished for a little more (seeing that the icmr buff on the banner of hope hasn't increased at all since like ... level 30?)
and these are things that affect all the classes not just us captains.. so i'm not trying to be selfish here :P

still i'm happy with the first two traitlines and i will prolly go across the board for lead the charge and a little healing hands
can't wait to check it out

I not really a fan of the trait lines, I like to be able to dps/tank and then switch over and heal mid-battle, if we can mix the trait lines but still get some of both healing and dps that would be great or even get both trait lines and at least switch back and forth depending on the situation. However the new traits and consequential attacks, aka new heals and power reduction sound great, and I look forward to trying out both dps and healing.

    you can..

you are free to just slot 3 of the dps trait line (and only receive the bonus that comes for equipping 3 of course) put 2 into healing hands and 2 into the leader of men traitline (granting you the first bonus for both lines) or any other combination
as long as you have 2 traits for a traitline equipped you will receive a bonus

    i think that's very flexible

Re: Dev Diary Feedback: Captain Advancement Beyond Level 50!

My main is a Captain and I for one am a little underwhelmed by the progression past 50 as compared to the other classes.

The main reason I like my captain is exactly because I am so darn versatile. Now it seems I have to specialize, which although appropriate for other classes, seems least so for Captains, the ADD class of LotRO.

Seems like going from eating curries to going bland to me.

Might be different when the rubber meets the road, so I'll withhold judgment until then.

no new buffs ...(we get a longer lasting one ....{bad captains sure could use that i guess....})
Archer herald with no added buffs... damage better be good otherwise i couldnt even use this solo the ONLY possibility i see for it atm
Legandary herald... better be good dude ( i.e. if its just a skin ill protest kick bite scream till you boot me)

Ill be the first to tell you captains are the best class in game ^_^idiot whoever thought Hunters were on the same difficulty level as a captain. Captains should be on the same lvl as Burgs and LM
    skeptical of the new stuff.
    Always a captain ;p

It all sounds good in theory, except the first legendary weapon being a halberd. I despise them.
