I fixed above. I have been quite active about reasons why someone would stay or go in other threads. "Getting all" of something you don't want isn't really a great deal.

Turbine is in no way obligated to provide a refund. Which is why it is so much more important to me to see if they will consider offering one.

Does not matter you agreed to the purchase and your not getting any refund.

If you don't like it don't play.

I did read this and have dozen other very long posts from Lifers complaining and wanting refunds.

There is massive confusion over what a lifetime sub gets verse Premium and F2P simply because no one reads the FAQ.

Yeah, I'm a bit pissed at myself. I mean, $10 a month is not a big deal, especially when it comes quarterly instead of each month; not to mention I am quite willing to pay for the game and will keep on paying until I see this game actually go downhill...But the lifetime would give me peace-of-mind that even if I am broke (college student, one year left, getting a job in networking; it's possible) I can still have something to enjoy myself with.

Turbine, could you see fit to re-offer the $200 lifetime option, even for one day only? July 4th is my birthday, you could do it then. Thanks!

    Re: Lifetime Account Refunds

    To Ryinnik:

As I said in my last post on page 5 I think it is, write Turbine a letter if you are truly displeased.

Frankly I'll wait and see. Lifetimer and monthly subscribers are automatically VIPs and enjoy every aspect of the game that we enjoy now, because as Sapience put it in another thread, we paid for these features and we're entitled to them.

Our experience will not change one iota, save the introduction of a LoTRO Store.

That leaves us with only change that people might not like: the introduction of hordes of new players.

I don't see this as a bad thing. We may have an exemplary community, but that doesn't help Turbine pay the bills. When all is said and done, more people will join LoTRO, play for a free and ultimately decide to support the game either:

    1)By becoming a subscriber
    2)By purchasing LoTRO store upgrades

The reason I do not feel so bad about this is that it EMPOWERS the future players. It empowers current players. It gives us another venue to enjoy this game without the issue of a large, lump sum lifetime subscription or the per-month or multi-month subscription model.

I can now play the second sub I opened because I am not tied down to a monthly fee that I couldn't reasonably afford.

Sorry for the tangent. But my point still stands, write Turbine a letter. They may honor your request or they may not, but at least you tried.

I would prefer to let a Turbine representative draw the final decision on that thanks. I will make my decision to play or not to play based on this game, yes. As will everyone else. I am not threatening a rage quit, I am not belittling those that embrace this change. So if you are upset with people reasonably discussing this vent away if it makes you feel better I guess. :-P

I am very clear as to what has currently been published about what the different levels of player will get. I did in fact read the FAQ a couple times. All of that is incidental to the request in my original post.

    Re: Lifetime Account Refunds

The demand for a refund on lifetime accounts is absolutely absurd. When you bought the lifetime account, the agreement was that you'd never pay a monthly fee again for access to the game as long as the game was running. That has not changed.

You may dislike the direction the game is going, but that is a risk you take in ANY MMO, and buying a lifetime account does not inoculate you from it. Nowhere in the lifetime account option did it say "If you decide you don't like the direction the game goes, we'll give you your money back." It says as long as LOTRO is live, you won't pay a monthly fee to access it. You still won't.

And this is coming from someone who hates this change, is disgusted with the lack of content and failure to address complaints over unpopular game systems, and has a very, very low opinion at the moment of Turbine as a game developer. I cancelled my account yesterday, dislike Turbine quite a lot at the moment, and still think the request for refunds on lifetime accounts is pointless whining.

    *Does a little math*

Looks like those of us who started years ago would OWE Turbine $341. Thank you for your contribution to my further play!

For those who JUST joined? You're getting $15 of points each month already...AND all the benefits you would have regardless of subscription. I'm betting if you went to Premium you'd wind up spending over $100 in point purchases just to have what you have now.

Again...thank you for your contribution to my further play!

Wow, this is a win win for those of us who aren't freaking out and reacting like a two-year old with a booboo.
lol... a two year old with a booboo...

This QQing from life-timers is getting old. Nothing is changing for them (other than the 500 FREE turbine points every month). It's rather ridiculous that those of you who ARE complaining arent standing back and recognizing the benefit you do have and what turbine is recognizing with regards to certain people within their player base. They could, in true business fashion, just say "oh so sorry, you screwed" and continue on without so much of second thought to the QQing. But they aren't doing this, in fact they are doing their best to recognize your loyalty to the game and offer you a little bit more to keep you playing.

In actuality there is no reason for turbine to even remotely consider refunds because there is NO breach in contractual agreement between you and turbine. Further more the notion to even request a refund is rather ludicrous and short sighted.

    Re: Lifetime Account Refunds

I feel the OP idea holds merit - for anyone who has paid for a lifetime sub less than 6 months ago.

Others, not at all. The sub fee was used up long ago.

I'm not on the refund screaming team but I am frustrated as I have two 6 month old lifer accounts. I don't know how this is going to shake out but I am worried as I have not recouped my investment in game months yet.

OP: Our policy on refunds is clear and has not changed as a result of yesterday's announcement.

In the meantime if you feel your situation deserves special consideration outside of that policy please follow up with Account Support directly and we will handle your request appropriately.
