Any plans on restoring the posts from the old forums? I keep finding threads when I search that aren't there when i click on them. Feel like I'm missing out on info that got pruned from the old forum.

I doubt it. Turbine periodically has a house cleaning. Deletes old posts. Turbine has deleted many more posts than are currently on their forum. Most forums have periodic deletions to improve performance and free up space unless they are very small - not very active.
I think Turbine cleans house every six to nine months. Anything you want kept - Turbine suggests putting in the Lore Book. The forums are temporary storage.
Unless stated otherwise, all content in this post is My Personal Opinion.
The last forum pruning was over the summer and it removed posts more than about 4-6 months old unless the community had preserved them by making a new entry. They are deleted, so there's no way to restore them.
With that said we have no plans to prune forums in the future. The new forums and the hardware they are on (yes, it's actually better/faster/stronger) means we are less likely to have performance issues related to very large post histories.

An interesting, and rather weird, discovery I had a couple of months ago... the Suggestion forums (at least, didn't bother to investigate further) doesn't seem to be touched by the pruning shears...
Go to Suggestion forums, click Last and you'll find this thread from March '09.

or this (very "first") from July '08

I have to agree with the above posts... the home page itself takes a quite a while to load (I use Chrome), and when it does finally load the home page it insanely unorganized. Searches are almost pointless when you consider how incredibly long they take and the fact that almost all results you do find lead you back to the main page

Just because the new forums are slower client side (rendering) doesn't mean they are slower server side.
But yes...from the client side point of view I much preferred the old forums.
Issues with new layout/forums....
- Menus break. Menus are hard to click on.
- Logging in takes me back to the "Forums List". Very annoying when I'm in a post that I want to reply to, but not logged in. I then have to open another window to log in or navigate back to the post...
- Old Layout was better looking IMO.
- Time warp is rampant. Posting and then having people quote my post before I posted it...
- Lost my join date. Argh......
- Mailbox messages force you to use WYSIWYG editor.. which is junky.
As far as speed goes... they seem to load fast enough.. but I think the old forum was faster. Probably due to the complicated menu at the top.
Haven't seen the forums crash yet (personally).
That all said....I'm sure that someone worked very very hard on getting these new forums setup. And the community appreciates your effort...however there is still a lot of work to be done in order to get the forums operating smoothly. We appreciate your continued effort. Thank you.
