    November Patch

On Sunday November 14, I reached level 60 on my Champ. I had purchased LOTR Mines of Moria prior to free to play. I realized Sunday that Moria was level 60 cap. So I purchased the Mirkwood expansion. I find out today that with the new patch F2P are able to level to 65 and have access to Mirkwood???

I am wondering, since I purchased the expansion and a day later is free, what is the benefit of actually purchasing the Mirkwood expansion? Or did I and maybe others just got ripped? If Mirk is now free I could have used the money I spent on the expansion towards my subscription!

Does any one know the best way or the proper thread / site for getting a couple answers?

    Thanks,
    Art

The epic (storyline) quest is free, your purchase should give you access to all quest hubs within Mirkwood as well as a month VIP.

    Exactly right.

Op the update gives access to Mirkwood to complete the epic quest line. Thats it. SoM expansion is what you need to get to 65.

    Have fun!

Just to clarify, you do NOT get a month VIP for LOTRO store purchases. The month VIP is only good with the physical MoM box. Mirkwood does not give VIP.
If you give away gold bars, someone will complain they're too heavy.

Moria and Mirkwood are not 'free'. A free player will be able to enter those regions, level to 65, and complete the Epic story, however they will have to purchase the quest packs for Moria, Lothlorien, and Mirkwood. By purchasing the expansions now, you gain all of that content plus 2 extra character slots and access to the Rune-keeper and Warden classes.

As I understand it, a F2P player would only be required to purchase those quest packs if he/she actually wanted to do quests or gain access to instances within those quest packs.

If, for some reason I can't currently fathom, said player didn't care about quests or instances, he/she would not be required to purchase the quest packs at all. You can certainly grind out thousands of mobs to level, if you wish.

Forgive me, in advance, for being overly technical.

Seems like a lot of people have a hard time with how Quest Packs work...similar to riding skill.

I don't know if it's just explained poorly or what for most people's understanding, but maybe Turbine needs to reevaluate how it's worded or something. What I do know is that those two questions get asked about every 30 seconds in the advice channel until you advance past Bree...I know I've personally answered those questions like 50 times each at least.

With boxed Moria, you get a month of VIP and 500 TP. With your month of VIP, you get all quests packs unlocked pre Mirkwood, all trait slots unlocked, 2 extra character slots, the gold cap removed, rested XP, etc.

If you were to buy Moria in the online store you get none of those things, just the expansion and the corresponding quest pack. The physical disc is what gets you the VIP status and all the other unlocks, not the Moria content itself.

What about T6 crafting? Has that been added to the a la carte menu or is it now free (or was it overlooked)?
