Yule Festival Items Missing in 2010?

I have been doing all of the daily Yule Festival quests on all of my characters and have accumulated a rather impressive stack of tokens on each character. I divided the number of tokens evenly as possible between the 4 races, and bought Gift Boxes. Lots and lots of Gift Boxes. Opened them all to receive lots of clothes, a few backpacks, a couple snowglobes, a few wallpapers, and ....

NOT ONE WREATH, or FESTIVE CANDLE, or GREEN/BLUE/RED GIFT BOX!!!! <see Shatter cry>

Are we not getting any wreaths, festive candles or colored gift boxes in our gift boxes this year? Has the drop rate been lowered? I'm not even seeing them on the auction house, and I check it on an hourly basis.

Would someone please check this? If this is not the appropriate forum, please advise on where I should post this.

Thank you for your help. May All in Middle-Earth have a Joyous Yule Festival.

I just got a festive candle yesterday, from a Bree-land box.

You need to open a couple hundred boxes from each race before you can be 95% certain to have gotten at least 1 of each possible loot item. (I did this last year as a probability test.)

The reason you're not seeing more of them on the AH this year is because tokens are much harder to come by. Last year, you could get 3 tokens every 9 minutes doing the beer brawl. This year, you can get 2 to 13 coins ( = 0.5 to 3.25 tokens) every 9 minutes doing either the snowball fight or eating contest. We also don't have the barter treasure boxes to open (for 1 to 3 tokens each) in the four regional area every 30 minutes. The non-Frostbluff quests reward 16 tokens every 24 hours, just like last year. Many people are also giving away 10 coins ( = 2.5 tokens) every 24 hours to the needy.

Most people doing festival content are just hanging out in the theatre not earning any tokens (except the handful of coins from deeds).

OMG, someone as OCD as me. <huge grin and a high-five>

Thank you for your response. All of what you've said makes perfect sense, and gives me hope that if I just keep trying I will get a wreath, a festive candle and at least one pretty colored gift box. And BTW, you are my hero. (A couple hundred boxes? Wow!!!)

I beer-brawled for about 7 hours a day for about 10 days last year, getting up to friendly reputation with the Inn League on all of my characters.

However, I also asked other players who bartered for regional boxes to record their results and post them in the forum thread. That's how I reached the 95% confidence level for ratios.

Unfortunately, that thread faded away with the last forum purge. I was looking for it yesterday when someone asked what's in each of the boxes.

Candles come from Man Boxes, Wreaths from Elf Boxes, various colored gift boxes from Hobbit boxes, festive table from Man Boxes in my experience. I gathered about oh 12 wreaths last festival but that was definitely the one hardest for me to get personally and I turned in a pile of tokens.

I've received a couple of wreaths and one green box. I'm hoping for a yule tree still. I have one in my yard from a couple of festivals back, but I wanted another one or two to flesh out my decorations. I plan on getting a few of the snowmen but only using one at a time.

I've received the wreath and blue/red gift boxes so far. They're out there.

The tree doesn't come in a gift box. Do the quest about Lobelia being the Yule party planner in Hobbiton to get the tree.

The Yule Tree quest arc can't be repeated if you did it in a previous year. You'll have to create a new character if you want another tree. (The whole process took me about an hour, but I could have done it faster if I realized there was a rent-a-pony in my new player gift box.)

You can also win a Yule Tree (and other Yule related items) in the LOTRO Lotteries all month long!

I opted for buying the clothes as I qualify for them and then dying them a different color. For example, the hooded Winter-fest cloak is a light blue with white decorations, but looks loads better in navy blue. I've noticed the same with a lot of the clothes.

I have about 3 of these on my hunter on Imladris from Bree Boxes. Didn't even open that many boxes. I think 8-10 total.

I have gotten a wreath, festive candle and a red box this year and have opened maybe 15-20 boxes so they are in there, it's just a matter of luck (no I don't have the horseshoe).

Good luck and I hope you find your items

Re: Yule Festival Items Missing in 2010?

I certainly hope everyone has been finding the items they want. For me, as this is my first yule festival, each gift box has been exciting and I've had decent luck in getting varied items.

I wanted to get each wall texture and got boxes from each race one at a time until I got their texture. Not sure how many boxes I've opened (I do wish I had tracked that) but I have got all textures and along the way also received 1 wreath, 2 gift boxes (red and blue), 4 snow globes, 3 festive tables, and several cosmetic items. I used the extra items that I've got to spread some yule cheer to my kin mates.

Next year I'll have to keep track of how many boxes I open.
