Relic Combination Known Issue

When forging Relics, Critical successes are not functioning correctly. A critical success will result in the loss of any relics used during the forging process and will not return any higher tiered relics. We are currently working on a fix to address this issue.

How ironic. The abomination that is the new relic system isn't working properly.

For the record:

• I don't care one way or the other about the new character sheet.
• I'm kind of miffed about the way they handled the new Tailor and Metalsmith multi-output recipes.
• I really like the changes to the "legendary" items. Although I will point out that level 65 Second Age items with four Major legacies are now going for exorbitant prices on the Auction House, since there's no way to obtain these anymore.
• I think the new relic system is an overly complicated mess that simply didn't need to happen. And if I expressed my true feelings about the Store-exclusive Scrolls of Removal, I'd probably be banned from the forums.

I was bitten by this bug several times immediately after the servers came back up. I earned a few shards, and received no relics. (T4-T5 and T5-T6 combines)

First they want to make me pay to keep my current relics, then they can't even ensure that the relics I do earn under their "new and improved" system are even crafted.

To add insult to injury, I put my relics back into my rune satchel, then began running the Epic III quests. I really wish I knew that you receive a level 65 2nd age class item and ~500k IXP rune as a quest reward, so if you want to use it, you have to immediately purchase their relic removal scroll (another LOTRO store exlcusive) to unslot the stuff you just put in half an hour prior. I suspect that this was absolutely a consideration when deciding to make relics unslottable except via cash shop purchase.

Another thing that didn't work as expected was the legacy replacement scrolls that are received upon level 31+ deconstruction. The "major" legacy scroll will NOT replace "minor" or "stat" legacies, just other majors that are slotted on your legendary item.

The odd thing is that it wasn't present during Bullroarer testing. Critical success on relics was normal (although I got heaps of bronze relics o.O)

I'm holding off combining relics until this is fixed too. Luckily it happened to me on a tier 1 combine when I saw it happening, so I didn't lose much.

Stats replace all, minors replace minors and majors, and majors only replace majors

Are you seriously going to complain because they are giving you a 65 2nd age and a huge IXP rune?

Wow - I did dozens of relic combines and never noticed the problem -- just assumed that was how it was supposed to work. Do I feel sheepish. Wonder if there is anyway for them to track my losses and compensate me? Prolly too much to ask. Le sigh

I totally thought the same thing, good thing i didnt break any weapons cause i wanted to get them to seventy first before i broke them down but i dd combine alot of relics with no reulsts that were good so how do they compensate for the loss......

I did, too, but from old BR patch notes, I thought it was WAI. Oh well.
