    Anniversary Protest

If you really want to protest this detestable anniversary festival, then hit Turbine where it matters.

In two days, that Minas Ithil Steed goes on sale. The same time frame as the current anniversary festival.

Boycott the Steed. The quickest and surest way of getting Turbine's attention is to not purchase something they dearly want you to purchase.

Pass it on. Mention the Boycott the Steed Protest on your server's /glff and /regional channels. Get the word out.

Protest the Anniversary by Boycotting the Steed.

If you don't take a stand, get their attention, then this sort of game design will continue, because a company isn't cowed by customers who are all bluster but no action.

I'm awfully confused. What do you find detestable about the anniversary? In the past it has never been a "festival" like the spring/summer/fall/winter festivals. All that happens is you get barter tokens from monster kills that you can turn in for gift boxes. Not only will I be buying a steed for my main, I'll also buy it on an alt to offset your boycott.

Well, that's easy enough. The store ponies are WAY too expensive for me anyway.

If you look at the general discussion page- half the threads are regarding the token grind for cosmetics and the pvp griefing in the mini-game. The conspiracy theory is the festival is a "fail" to make the store items look more attractive. I think players making a statement of how far they are willing to allow the store to go is more than reasonable.

I wouldn't buy a steed in the Store anyway. Boycotting it would serve no purpose for me; they wouldn't have gotten my money anyway on that.

There are two kinds of tokens-- gift box tokens and anniversary tokens. I cant see why people would care about gift box tokens, but the cosmetic/mount tokens require hours upon hours of grinding for the reward. The issue is why would you celebrate your customers following you for 4 years by giving them only 2 options to get tokens- 2 horse races and PvP mini-game, then requiring 20-30 of those to get anything worthwhile.

Personally, just like the medallions, the effort to get anything is so high, and with plenty of other things to do, I wont participate.

    Re: Anniversary Protest

I am very certain that nothing of that sort will be necessary. I am convinced that with any festival they generate their reports on how many people participated how often to find out what worked and what didn't.
Not buying the steed will only make them think no one liked the horse.

If you don't like it, then don't do it. Nothing is forcing you to do any of the anniversary events.

There, that was simple, and your problem was solved now, wasn't it.

    Thanks for the negative rep.

By the same token, don't participate in the Boycott. Go out and buy 10 Steeds, instead.

I guess I am in, but that is because I will NEVER (99% certainty) buy a horse from the store. There is likely NO cosmetic item (that includes horse skins) I would but from the store.

Agree. Nobody is forcing you to buy anything, not on the store nor in-game. Why can't you just enjoy the game??

Negative rep? If you got negative rep, then you absolutely positively did not get it from me. I haven't given anyone negative rep in several weeks.

Don't believe me? Go look at your rep now. Bet you just got a big chunk of positive from me just to make up for whatever goof actually gave you the negative.

No, Turbine is not making it difficult for you to enjoy. As I said, skip the "events" and go play the rest of the game. You'll find you're having fun again and not getting worked up over something that is not worth getting upset over.

If 1% of a game is making you upset, why stick with that 1%. Go do the other 99% instead. Not everyone is going to enjoy every part of a game- and there is nothing wrong with that.

BTW- waiting for apology for the negative rep accusation.

Making multiple threads to complain about the same or similar issues, when a lengthy thread already exists is not needed.
