I have to admit I find the Welsh influence a bit jarring -- perhaps it's not obscure enough?
I have no problem with the Basque naming influence in Dwarf territory, and I noticed but didn't mind the Finnish - it seemed location-appropriate as well as Tolkien-appropriate.
Berephon is teh b0mb in all things lore, though, and I always give him the benefit of the doubt. I think it would be fascinating to put him up against Stephen Colbert one of these days.
Sorry, as I mentioned earlier in the thread, this is indeed completely coincidence. I named the character, and no, I never heard of President Kekkonen until this thread. It was quite literally pulled from a list of Finnish names.
Ah yes, didn't remember that. But what a coincidence indeed, to just pull that specific name for the rauta-lehmä leader
Nope, never saw it. I generally only visit General Discussion, Hall of Fame, and the J.R.R. Tolkien pages, unless someone asks me to weigh in on something in another board. This was on the Official Discussions board, and I never discuss anything officially. Causes too much trouble.
Basque names in Dwarven territory? I don't remember that from when we discussed the various languages used in LOTRO (yet my memory isn't strong) and it sounds interesting
Permanently retired. Was Kibilturg, Guardian of Imladris (then Landroval & Crickhollow) and ~40 alts.
