It seems Turbine does very little to punish people that purposely grief in the game world. Earlier I made a post about a guy, who will now remain nameless, that led a 12 man raid skirmish on my server, Elendilmir. A Worn Symbol of Celimbrebor dropped and we proceeded to do /random 100 rolls using master looter, which is pretty usual for 12 man raid skirmishes, at least on Elendilmir. One of my kinmates won the roll with a 100, but instead of getting the Worn Symbol, the raid leader steals the Worn Symbol, drops raid, and disconnects from the server.
So after the forums came back up, I made a post about the incident. Yes, I included a name because without a name the post is pretty useless. A bunch of us that were in that raid were going to make a post when it happened a few days ago but the forums were down. I figured that is the least we could do to help prevent that guy from doing this again and again. A few days ago he was seen on /glff trying to sell that Worn Symbol as well as trying to start another 12 man group for raid skirmishes. When glff members confronted him about this he just said we didn't get it, that he didn't care, and that he would do it all over again.
We sent tickets in game about the guy and about possibly getting the Worn Symbol. Of course we had a feeling they would do nothing to restore a stolen Worn Symbol. We did not expect the GMs to let the guy run rampant as was evidenced by him freely chatting on glff.
So that guy gets off without as much as a slap on the wrist, and I get infracted. I think Turbine needs to really address some of the shortcomings of how issues like this are handled, instead of playing big brother and infracting someone for posting about stuff like this. Yea, there's the issue of maybe I BSed all of this, but enough people saw it happen that would have chimed in and vouched for me.
Way to go Turbine. Way to go.
/end rant.
