There are laws preventing under 18s buying lottery tickets for good reasons, yet these same people are being encouraged to participate in this particular lottery. If the game had an 18 rating that wouldn't be an issue, but it doesn't.

LMAO there is a law for people under 21 they cannot drink but you see alcohol in this game & there is no uproar over children being subjected to that. Ya got smoking & violence as well in this game & there is no uproar over that either. If your character buys and drinks alcohol in-game, you don't get drunk in real life. If you buy Turbine Points for a key to open your lootbox, you lose money in real life, you have the real effect of gambling real money for a prize.

How does grinding out 100tp in game make this any better? To me, the source of the tp is irrelevant in this case.

With those 100tp I want to buy something that I actually choose from the store instead of buying the chance to get something that apparently still is illusive, a horse?

What I do not understand is that for those 100tp -> key -> loot, that loot is not picked from a series of exciting items. Instead of dyes, potions, etc. that leave the buyer with the feeling of 'and what exactly did I do just now?'

I call this toying with people's expectations, and it might be financially successful, but I find it not worthy of this game and the lore, and I find it disappointing that this is now a new development in the implementation of in game material that leads the player to think of the store, let alone go to the store.

Fake or not, if you win a large quantity (see competition where 100000 were given away) of them they are subject to Tax so they have a value. If you buy them for cash it is gambling, it is no different then buying casino chips as they are a created currency but it is still gambling.

Turbine are toeing the line with this, and even if they are on the legal side they are annoying a lot of players which is never a good idea, but the timing is worse as another huge IP MMO has just been released.
