About character rename

1st of all, SORRY if this is wrong sub-forum

and now to the thing...

I wanted to spend some TP today, and i tought, hey, lets do character renames!!!

As many alrdy know, i am known as bobo, or something similiar, so i checked there nobody named bobo alredy, it said YOU CANNOT ADD THIS CHARACTER, on friend list, then i tried to make a new toon named bobo, but it said THIS NAME IS TAKEN...

So what does this mean? nobody has made that named toon, so why i cant take it???

Bobo CANNOT be offensive or anything else like that, and its not weird at all for lotro when theres everything from frizles to farmpawns???

Here is two possibilities:

1) You have attempted to use a reserved name. The name has been taken by Turbine.

2) It could be a Creep name.

You have to log in as a Creep. Try again to add the name to your friends list.

Edit - I forget how the new bee experience works. You may not be able to add someone to your friends until after they exit the starter instance into the real world. This functionality has changed periodically over the years.

Of course, if is accurate, then you have my sympathy. Both for not getting the name and the distressing medical condition.

There are actually 104 definitions there. Amazing. Initially, I only read the first one.

Someone might have created a character with the name, and never logged in. I don't believe characters will show up in any searches, if that is the case. However, you still can't use the name. Once someone actually logs into the game, they would show up as a level 1 in the character searches.

I do wish we had a "check name before creation" option on the character creation panel to be sure names are available without having to dance through hoops doing searches in advance.

This is what i was going to say.... let me add:

if you have not logged-in in a long time, the char wont show. i had one char i hadnt logged into in over a year and he stopped showing on myLOTRO and was no longer able to sign up for lotteries and stuff like that.

im not sure when it was, but the time the char-logs were reset was when this happened.

It's not 'your' name. It's taken. Stop being a child and pick something else. Preferably something more in keeping with Tolkien's world.

No one's going to start deleting characters just because of whiny players.

Since you are not the "owner" of that name, nothing you can do will cause it to be released. Only the actual owner, if any, could do that. Turbine will not delete any characters.

And anyway, Turbine will not respond to these sorts of issues through the Forums.

You're just going to have to suck it up.

You are free to mail them, just like I'm free to sue McDonalds because my cup of coffee is too hot. I think I'll have better success with my law suit though, than you will with your over-developed sense of entitlement.

"suck it up" does not mean "try a different way", it means "get over it, it is what it is and it's not going to change". You are not called "bobo" since last year on your play server, a level 60 warg is, as you've discovered. S/he owns the name, and has the right to log in or not; you are entitled to not be happy about it, but you're not entitled to a change based on your own wishes. You are, however, entitled to mail Turbine to ask for what you want. Everyone knows that will not get you anywhere, but that doesn't change your entitlement to requesting it anyway.
