Re: Map flags all full revealed? No more exploring?

So, I think this post should remove some of the worry in this thread. The little flag markers showing up for all locations is a bug. They should only show up for locations you have visited and discovered. We have looked into this error, we caught it, and you'll see a fix to this appear in an upcoming update.

Thank you everyone who reported it via /bug.

/bug eh? I'll have to test that out! Is that the one that asks me for 9000 system details I don't know? That may be why I stopped using it and forgot the correct method of reporting. I'll check it out and start doing it properly

If you report it right when the bug happens in game, a lot of the system info defaults, like the location info.

I've mostly just had to give a supporting narrative when I've reported bugs.

I hate that bug too.... I like "stumbling upon" the places I need, and with the bug in effect, it's hard to figure out if you went there already and it didn't log it on the deed... etc... (one bug with another I guess )

I miss the fog of war... I wish it would be brought back personally. For me that enhanced the game and the "thrill of the unknown" that I was walking into. It also let you know (especially if you are an altaholic like so many of us are), what areas your toons hadn't been to yet.

I guess, easy is the norm, but I wish Turbine would make the map so we could toggle off and on the fog of war type thing for our maps. It would be a good option for those of us who don't like our gaming experience with a side of "over easy", not to mention enhance the RP ability that a lot of us do enjoy about the game. My kin mates and I used to quest the area's together and rp that we were drawing the map as we "adventured forward into the unknown". Kinda table top gamer point of view I suppose.

    Absolutely!

I do wish that going forward the devs would spend the "little" extra time to make changes like this toggle-able. Have it default to "easy" for all the super casuals that Turbine is courting these days, but give us "regular" casuals a button to flip to keep *some* of the challenge in....

Any chance at a return of Fog of War (FoW)?

Map exploration is one of my favorite activities with updates. FoW enhanced that pleasure. Offering it as an option would make me happy.

So, is this another easification? People didn't like explore deeds and finding coordinates, so just highlight the locations by unveiling all the flags?

Or is it a bug/known issue?
I know a 'blue' has posted it's a bug, but frankly the whole concept of exploration was destroyed when they dumbed down the maps for F2P and eliminated the 'fog of war'.

Really? The whole concept of exploration was destroyed because a system that revealed hundreds, sometimes thousands of square meters on the map whenever you took one step into a region? You could uncover the entire map and never actually do any exploring at all. The fog of war system was utterly pointless and it's removal did nothing to hurt the games exploration aspect. The exploration was and always will be actually walking through the areas and see them, not some cheap crutch that map absolutely no sense and accomplished no point.
