I'd like to see decent polite forum moderation

    HI all

This isn't a pop at the mods as such, just getting a little tired of responding to threads such as today when someone started one along the lines of "poll about BG loot" which was a very polite and reasonable discussion with many people bringing up valid points on both sides of the debate.

I spend 20 mins wording my post and go back a couple of hours later to find it's disappeared.

There seems no logic on what threads get removed and what ones stay.

It's bad enough how slow this forum is and how I keep getting logged out., But threads just disappearing is frustrating, especially when they are discussing important things.

Maybe there's a rule about poll threads I don't know, but it wasn't really a poll it was some people explaining why they thought it a good idea and others explaining why they didn't.

Decent moderation removes the problem posts but leaves the thread open, or merges duplicate threads etc.

If we cant voice our opinions on here in a polite manner, what real point is there on having a forum?

There's censorship and protecting brand image and there's what seems to be illogical l over the top censorship, this forum is becoming the latter.

I wouldn't be surprised if this post disappears or I get a forum infraction for it but a professional response would be to explain your reasoning below and close it.

If I didn't keep posting what I think are helpful views about how the game is going on threads that aren't trolling and are polite and they didn't keep disappearing without trace, I wouldn't be writing this post. One disappeared the other day, I thought it had been deleted but it had been moved to another section but there was no "moved"! in the original section.

I appreciate all the hard work mods do, I realise they have a lot of threads to read etc, but please give us, the players of Lotro, the ones that pay money to Turbine a fair chance to voice our concerns/problems

    Thanks

    Joe

Not quite sure what you are talking about. The thread about BG is still there, as is a post by you in the thread.

    Yep, I just found it.

But when I replied to it it was in the general discussion section, it has been moved to the instances section but no "moved" link has been put in the general section, hence I thought it had gone.

if a thread is moved, it is polite to put a moved link in the old forum.

Just asking for them to make it a little easier for us, I do appreciate the time involved in moderating

    best

So, the first thing I would suggest is that you make sure your post is gone. As Greg pointed out it is still there, nothing has been touched, and as far as i can tell there's no need to. It was moved to the appropriate forum, as we have a specific forum for that discussion. Something we have made clear time and time again will happen if you post in the wrong forum.

All moved threads are given a link that says MOVED. They expire in 1 hour to avoid an endless cluttter of "moved" threads.
