What I hate more than anything about parenting is how parents willingly admit to breaking their own rules, because apparently they have their own set of rules for themselves. And yet they are so shocked when their kids break the rules too.

And the clarification is even more terrifying. That you (and several others) would consider a rigid relationship of authority and dependency such as the parent/child one as the most relevant to this case worries me.

In a wider sense, and as the recent LOTRO dissertation thingy underlined as well, a disproportionate amount of people here tend to spontaneously surrender to the slightest suggestion of authority and support a general atmosphere of infantilism.

As long as those conversations take place within the community guidelines,EULA, TOS, COC, etc., you are right.
