Any information from the Council meeting of 2 weeks ago?

If there is a write up and I missed it = link please.

I did see a very brief video but it didn't offer any real information.

It's confirmed. They will do it for sure, a plan is being hammered out as I write this.

    Leaks

I'd imagine the pending expansion would be Turbine's resource priority for the time being. Maybe post-release.

The official announcement was here - https://www.lotro.com/forums/showthr...48#post6963548 and there's also a bit in one of the more recent community updates http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W40Nh5O9Y08

    Thanks for the reply Arctic.

I had already seen those items you linked and those were the reason I created this post = it seemed to me the follow up would be something in the form of a "Council Update". (similar to what we would see in a "Dev Update")

Hehe... if the Ex-Pak timing is an issue for a report then the same timing would apply to the meeting itself I believe.

Actually the Expansion did dictate the timing of the meeting. It couldn't be done after the release as we need a window to allow for hot fixes or other issues, and then we are looking at Thanksgiving and staff spending time with their families. December would have been tricky for a number of reasons, but again the Holidays would have seriously restricted our options.

So Halloween was it. It got them in right as we put up a new build in beta, before the team had to wade through a new round of feedback, and ahead of the final push of bug fixes and tweaks in the two weeks before launch.

So quick info, that I can actually share focuses a lot on the council itself (which was a large part of the intention of the meeting).

    • Moved the Council term to coincide with LOTRO's Anniversary. So they'll be serving from April to April instead of until Dec 31.
    • The Council recommended removing and/or replacing council members who were inactive or who did not participate regularly.
    • Agreed the size of 75 was too large and it's more important to have an active group of 30-40.
    • Discussed ways to loosen their NDA for next year so they can discuss things with you guys a little more openly.
    • Discussed ways we can improve ticket response times in game. Especially for French and German players.
    • Discussed how to make what a GM can and cannot do more clear and well known.
    • The council was very direct in telling us that we need to be more direct and blunt, earlier. Especially when we know that the answer to a request or position will be no.
    • They saw the same presentation from Kate that the entire company saw a week earlier about LOTRO and our 2014 and beyond planning (VERY NDA'd). Gave very good feedback on it.
    • Were very much of the opinion that official global chat channels should be something we work towards.
    • Several members had very long conversations with Jinjaah and Hoarsedev and others about PvMP. Very.. very ... long...

I really really hope and pray you guys start to put a little more effort into this part of the game.
Not everyone likes PvMP (as many of us have no clue what this festival hype is about..) but it feels like the redheaded stepchild of the family...

Thank you for posting at the busy time Sapience! *bows*

I look forward to the report at a later date but some of those sound good!

I will ask for clarification on the last point however... Did the whole group shout "Norm" when he showed up very... very... late?

I like this. I like it a lot. Sometimes I don't like the answer but I really like this policy.

I am pleased to hear there are pvp'ers on the council and there was lengthy discussion. Are there also raiders and was there discussion about future raids?
I'd explain it to you, but I'm all out of Puppets and Crayons.

I would urge all who are interested to apply for the council when the applications open up again. While the NDA is rigid (see Sapience's reference) the opportunity is golden.

Often when we play, we play in a small pond. We play within a comfort zone that suits us. When you work on the council you see a lot more than what's in your comfort zone and find out it's a much bigger pond than you can imagine.

Take a chance to move out of your pond and comfort zone and make your voice heard.
Whoever says “I” creates the “you.” Such is the trap of every conscience. The “I” signifies both solitude and rejection of solitude. Words name things and then replace them. Whoever says tomorrow, denies it. Tomorrow exists only for him who does not seek it. And yesterday? Yesterday is Kolvillàg: a name to forget, a word already forgotten.

Eep! So I'll have to try extra hard to hope for a shot at a council position next year...
It is very promising to see positive dialog about an official global chat channel. As someone who likes to visit other servers, it can be difficult to discover what people are using as global chat channels. (especially if the primary server language is a second language for you)
Oh oh oh! My not-so little hobbit feet run around in excitement about long PvMP discussions. I don't PvMP. I gave it up in SoA out of frustration and boredom, BUT I'm absolutely up for giving it another shot if I see fun things happen over there. I know the not-as-big-anymore jewelled bell of servers has some awesome PvMP players still. Keeping them happy keeps our whole server happy.
Thank you Sapience, for throwing us a little information to get our excitement and anticipation going.

It's good to hear some specific news especially since it (for now) is NDA'ed so strictly for the members. Thanks for the update!
