I have made some inquiries with Smithfield BBQ and the the location in Smithfield is smaller than the one in Rocky Mount. The manager I spoke with at Rocky Mount said a gathering of 20-30 could be easily accomodated, without taking over the restaurant. They would make arrangements for the tables to be reserved in an area, probably the back. There would be no fee or special arrangment other than my calling them a day or so before and letting them know approximately how many people and about what time.

This location is just east of the intersection of I-95 and US 64 about 3.5 miles in Rocky Mount, NC. It is the 3rd exit after getting on US 64East, exit at N. Wesleyan Blvd (US 301) and the restaurant is about 1000' to the South on Wesleyan. The site is in front of a Lowe's store and the entrance is right after the IHOP and Circle K store. If you see Bojangles, you've gone too far!

There are closer sites to Raleigh but most not as easy to get to and have generally less amenities nearby. If people would confirm the total number you'll be coming with when you post, then we can build a headcount. Thanks!

This sounds like a fully workable solution to me!

And being a bit closer to VA it might draw a few more northerly folks down. Certainly will be easier for me as it means a few hours less driving that day.

How does this work for others?

Glad there was a Smithfields big enough to accommodate everyone. I've had other bbq places suggested, but I know how yummy Smithfields is so this is a really good thing to hear.

Rocky Mount is a bout and three hour drive from Charlotte a centralized location like Raleigh would work better for me But i cannot really complain if people are driving from VA but I'm definitely willing to drive to Rocky Mount North Carolina whichever is easier for the majority of people. I would probably only be bringing myself.

We'll be coming from East Tennessee. Timing couldn't be better as it lines up with Spring Break, so we'll tie in a visit with my folks who live out that way and a Meet -n-Greet with Sapience and other LOTRO folks. As of right now it'll be Nyn + 3 (maybe 4 depending on one of the kids schedule)

I hear ya Jake, being in the Raleigh area myself, it would be ideal for me too. I see we do have a number of folks from west of Raleigh and some more from the North & East. Depending on Sapience's plans and whom else may decide to come we can move move the proposed location, however being that Sapience has the longest drive, it's either his hour to get to Raleigh or our (additional) hour to get to him.

Y'all let me know your opinions and we'll see who all is planning to make it and from where. Send me a PM as needed.
