Stupid Question, but it has to be asked . . . . Pronunciation of LOTRO

    Is it

    LOW --TROW

    or is it

    LOT -- Row

    Which is it?

    I hear both.

    Thanks in advance.

Low-tro is how I pronounce it. Don't know if that's the "real" way to say it, but to quote an old song:

"You like potato and I like potahto
You like tomato and I like tomahto
    Potato, potahto, Tomato, tomahto.
Let's call the whole thing off
    "

    The former.

I've seen/heard videos of various CSRs
and devs pronouncing it that way.

Since pre-beta, I always called the game "LO - TRO"

I tend to call it lah-trow, but sometimes do use low-trow. And I typically type it LOTRO. Too much of a hassle for my little pinky finger on that shift key to bother with LotRO all the time.

    NA calls it LO-TRO
    EU calls it LOT-RO

I think LOTTER-O is a good compromise, and sounds like I'm singing the LOTTE duty free song.

I usually pronounce it "Lord of the Rings Online".

LOW-tro is how it was pronounced to me at my interview, and everyone at the office that I have heard says it that way.

Long o's, accent on the first syllable.

Low-tro is customary, but the true pronunciation is only known by Durin's folk, who do not vouchsafe it to be heard by outsiders.

Well, that about sums it up...

I've always been a fan of low-tro, myself.

I would suspect that there is a direct correlation between how "LOTRO" is pronounced and the vowels in that much overly used phrase "Oh my god", the stretching of the vowels also being linear to the amount that the phrase is used in conversation

Exactly. It's all to do with your accent. I'm not in North America so I say "Lot-tro". If I said 'low-trow' in my accent it would sound like there's something wrong with me.

I'll be honest, I hear "Lot-ro", and i start looking for a great dane expressing his concern to a bunch of meddling kids.
