is there at any point where you will review infractions that were given out by sapience abusing his administrative power?

he was notaries for banning, removing post and giving infractions unjustly while he worked at turbine, this sort of injustice should be held accountable.

I was always afraid to ask this question because I too was reprimanded simply for posting my view like everyone else. Since then I have only posted a couple times for fear of being completely banned. Im glad to hear someone is speaking up and im not alone.

Sapience had a reputation for "overenthusiasm" in his moderation duties going way back to before the EU servers were brought over and the codemasters forums were shut down. It was that reputation which led some of the then EU community set up the unofficial lotro community forum. That forum has many, many posts of people who were sanctioned and/or banned for seemingly trivial issues. Won't go into details - google it and find out for yourselves.

On that forum, they coined a very useful phrase - "the lotro elite" which describes quite nicely those who Thorgrum called Sap's "cronies" - an small group who pushed a decisive viewpoint, that encouraged a them & us and for those who were found to be outside that circle, to be hounded as trolls and their views belittled - the culmination of that was the HD beta. Anyone who took part in that beta and had access to that forum will know the animosity that was rife.

Anyhow, when it comes to the previous community manager and issues of moderation, only one word is needed to describe the then situation - Fredelas.

That whole situation I think opened a lot of people eyes. To this day I will stay say it was bad form to name that player and insinuate he was the reason for the Mithril increase when in fact he was quite vocal from what I recall about lowering the cost and even set a time table on what he thought would be a good time line for the increase / decrease. Pointing fingers just angered people on both sides and for a while it left a very uncomfortable taste in my mouth about the forums and Turbine itself.

But as I said prior, the new Cm handles things much diferently. Personally I find the atmosphere here much better. A I said in one of my previous posts Those who were getting away with tons of violation shave calmed down because the thread they derailed went back on topic quickly. People finally just started ignoring them and moving on, some of them have given up poting all together because of this. It made these forums much easier to read without 20 closed or deleted thread links everyday. Topics stay on topic and sure we still have trolls but they will always be around.

Indeed. Somewhat ironic that less above-the-line moderation has resulted in a more pleasant environment and one which I am sure will encourage more people to visit and get involved in in-game discussions. Really hoping that we have seen the back of all that sycophancy, where people would try and second-guess the moderators own personal viewpoint, introduce that into a discussion and claim it to be a form of truth.

The only people who can do anything whatsoever about bans are Frelorn and the community team, so surely the appeals process is the best route by default. This matter can be discussed forever on the forums and nothing will result.

As to a blanket amnesty, I vote no, not that it matters. Those who have broken the rules time and again should not be given yet another chance, they'll just do the same. Each case on its merits is the only fair way, for all posters.
