    Noob Question: Houses

Okay I am ramping up to buy a house and had a couple of questions. (my Hobbit Mini is almost up to Level)

    1. I still haven't gone to the housing area yet but there seems to be a limited number of address and houses. Is there ever a time when there are no houses of the type you want available, or do they run it in layers like other busier places and there is enough for everyone?

    2. If I get one Character up to level 15 and buy a house, does that give access to my other characters, or do they have to wait until they level up?

3 If an character has something that is "tied" to them such as a tortoise stone, or a weapon, it cannot then be passed back and forth between characters using house storage?

side note I finally got access to the other forums, thank you very much

but this was such a noob question I guess it still belongs here

I don't know if you've found the solution to your questions yet, if not:

Truth is that there is a limited amount. The areas are all alike and have the same amount/kind of houses. There are however a lot of housing-areas and I doubt all of them are taken. However you might have issues with getting a kinship house or a deluxe house. However I've seen several available houses just in my area. It depends on the server of course. I can't tell you where to look, but once you get to the entrance you can select from the list which area you want to enter. There are currently 4 different lists for you to choose from. Bree-homesteads, Falathlorn near Celondim, one to the left of Thorin's Hall and one to the south of Michel Delving. These have different appearances based on the location/race inhabitants. You can only have one house. I don't remember the exact buying process, but it should be straightforward, I think you click on the "For Sale" sign.

Once you have a house, all of the characters you have tied to that account can travel to the house. However each character have to finish the introduction before you get the teleportation skill.

You can store items that are bound to your account. However those that are bound to your character can't be stored or at least they can't be taken out by any other character than the one who placed it. Such as bound weapons. I looked up the tortoise item on the wiki and it says Bind on Equip so I assume you can't move that one around.

Eventually players that do not show up forfeit their houses, so those houses would be available eventually.

All characters get access to your house. You only have to have 1 person hit 15. You need the gold for upkeep too

For what it's worth, it's now possible to start and keep a kinship with only one character. Which means that you could have as many kinship houses on one account as you have characters, even though you can only have one personal house.

Of course, to start a kinship each char has to be 15, and you have to wait about 3 months before your kinship can purchase a kinship house.
Today is a good day for Pie.

There are four housing areas available, one corresponding to each race. To buy a house, simply pick out the one you like, click on the four sale sign, and it's yours! Be advised that you will have to pay weekly upkeep.

The purpose of housing is mostly for fun, you can decorate it however you like. All of your characters will get a port to the house. Your house comes with extra storage, you can use it to pass items to your other characters. In addition, each housing neighborhood includes banker NPCs, and NPCs who will repair your gear and sell you crafting ingredients at a discount.

Yes, your neighbors are other players. If you walk up to other houses, a message will pop up with the owner of the house, unless they set their house to not display this. Most likely that player won't be around though.

A kinship house is an extra large house that the leader of a kinship can buy after their kinship has been active for a while (3 months?). All kinship members get a portal skill to take them to the kinship house. You can start your own kinship with only yourself in it if you like. There are a few different places you can buy a kinship... I think the Bree city hall is one.

I find that having a house is a great way to exchange items between characters. I just dump them in the housing storage and have another character pull them out. Another small benefit is having a house gives you a "house milestone" (my wording) that lets you instantly transport to your house.
