Day and Night Can it be optional?

Is there a way to toggle off day and night?

I like night in Middle Earth, but it is not conducive to the fighting and the quest fulfillment

It feels like I should be kicking back with an ale by the fireside

I like the random aspect of it and I experience both sides plenty. It'd be a shame if you missed out the night-time in Enedwaith because you like the day etc. I think there is something unique about the zones, be it day or night.
(PS: this should be in the Suggestions-section)

    No.

A "day" in LOTRO is about 3 hours real time, I think.

There are times when I log on and it is dark or it is raining and I am like "aw poop". But other times I like it dark and or rainy. Just depends on what I am doing. But like in real life, you can't change it. I was told that day and night are on three hour cycles.

Well, if it becomes a problem I'll just adjust my schedule....if it rotates every three hours then it should be daytime at the same time every day

    ***edit***

no it couldn't be that easy LOL

the cycle is 3 hours and 6 minutes..... so it will never be at the same time every day

    From lotro-wiki.com

    Time of Day

In the Lord of the Rings Online, 24 hours of "game time" (a game-day) takes 3 hours and 6 minutes of "real time" (wall-clock time). The time of day is divided into 10 blocks of time. These time periods can be seen on your "Radar," by mousing over the sun or moon icon. The icon changes between the two depending on what in-game time it is (ex. midnight shows the moon, while noon shows the sun). The icon changes to a clock in the 11 o'clock position when you're in certain kinds of Instances, since it can take place at any time of day. For example, the Helm's Deep Epic Battlestake place Before Midnight, After Midnight, Before Dawn, and Sunrise.Day-time runs from "dawn" to "dusk," while night-time runs from the "gloaming" to "foredawn."Note that the periods, "dawn," "gloaming," and "midnight," are much shorter than the other time periods.Time of day may change after maintenance or an update to the game. This is especially noticeable if one of your lua plugins has a clock that tells you when the next in-game time "segment" starts.

    Day-Time lasts 1 hour 42 minutes 20 seconds
    • Dawn = 9 minutes 32 seconds
    • Morning = 28 minutes 42 seconds
    • Noon = 17 minutes 47 seconds
    • Afternoon = 27 minutes 58 seconds
    • Dusk = 18 minutes 21 seconds

    Night-Time lasts 1 hour 23 minutes 40 seconds
    • Gloaming = 9 minutes 30 seconds
    • Evening = 27 minutes 59 seconds
    • Midnight = 8 minutes 59 seconds
    • Late Watches = 19 minutes 1 second
    • Foredawn = 18 minutes 11 seconds

Seriously I do think is is part of what makes the game awesome, I am just not as aggressive when the stars are out

I find night time to be a bit too dark for my taste, but I love the flavor it brings to the game. There are some settings that help lighten up the night, without totally ruining the effect. (That's subjective . . . and I also admit I prefer these settings for certain parts of Moria.)

Leaving out debate on how this impacts your immersion into the game/story . . .

Under Options, Graphics, four sliders near the bottom of the panel. My settings that I like.

    Ambient Light: 0.50
    Brightness: 1.00
    Contrast: 1.00
Gamma Level: 1.05 (warning, a little change here goes a LONG way.)

Additionally there is a personal lantern for your character. Use ALT+F10 to toggle it's three states (off, bright, normal). If you have a keyboard that requires Fn to use the Windows F keys, then the toggle for you is Fn+ALT+F10.

    Cheers!

Sig looked hideous so I sent it to its room. It can come back and
show off after it has thought about what it did.

@HardestyGrimwell. Your just going to have to get used to it. The day to night aspect of this game is one that is extremely unlikely to change.

Change the light level. You have three sliders, brightness, contrast and ambient light. The one you play with is the Ambient light slider.

I am the opposite; if it is raining out I will actually extend my play session because it happens rarely, and I really like the rain.

I agree. When I first started playing years ago, I found that by coincidence, every time I explored into a new area, it seemed to be night and it was difficult to see anything. I didn't complain, it was almost like the game and I had a running in-joke with each other. Still remember crossing the Trestlebridge for the very first time, and groping my way up the Greenway to Fornost in the middle of the night.
