LOTRO 10th Anniversary unboxing

Because 10 years ago I saw a banner ad for a closed beta for LOTRO, and I chose to click on it and once they actually let me play I never stopped. So I decided to do an Anniversary unboxing, because why not? Also because I am a hoarder who never throws anything away!

Please excuse fingers and any bad photography, these were taken very much on impulse.

I can picture exactly where mine is. It's on the middle shelf in a bookcase in the hallway next to my front door, second from the edge lol.

I paid $15 a month for the first year, and when an offer came for $199 lifetime instead of $299 for one month, the wife and I scraped together everything we had and paid that $199 on the very last day of the sale. Whew! Best $199 I ever spent.

Hard to believe that next week will be ten years for me. Wow!

Made me to get out my own box and flip nostalgically through the 110+ page manual.
I still have one unused buddy code, too PM me if you fancy trying it.

Time to dust off my Wayfarer's Cloak and wear it proudly during the anniversary events!
I wonder how many people around here still have it. (Correct me if I'm wrong but I think it was only obtainable through getting the Founder status with Codemasters.)

I have those as well packed away. You know, after 10 years of playing this game, of all the areas in the whole game, not one can touch the Shire and Bree. I start a new character every once in a while just to do the quests, run through the fields and forests, hear the Music, and explore every nook and cranny throughout those maps. Whomever designed, and I'm sorry I don't know your names, the Shire and Bree creators should create another character starter point. Problem is, you cant recreate perfection. Thanks

The virtually identical "book" -- is part of every download. (It is actually the Siege of Mirkwood version).

A PDF copy of the Turbine LOTRO Game Manual is included in every download (PC or Mac). The current version (Update 9) is still entitled: "Siege of Mirkwood." However, this "Treasure" is "buried" in the download!

As the Mac Client is distributed as a single ".app" file, the file is "Buried Treasure" within this single file.

To access the Game Manual via the Finder,
Navigate to where the Mac Client App is stored, typically in /Applications;
Locate the The Lord of the Rings Release(tm).app file and right click on it.
From the pop-up menu select, "Show Package Contents."
Navigate from "Contents" to "Resources," and as with the PC client choose your language: de, en or fr. (Deutsch de, Français fr or English en)
In that directory you will also find copies of the EULA and TOS documents AND the "LOTRO Game Manual.pdf." The EULA and TOS documents are in html format and will display in your browser if double-clicked on. NOTE: the EULA and TOS are in their respective languages, however, the Game Manual in each directory is in English.

For the PC Client look in the downloaded file where you find all of the client.dat files,
Nominally, Program Files/Turbine/The Lord of the Rings Online/<lamguage>/LOTRO Game Manual.pdf

Where <language> is EN/DE/FR.
