The thing is after BR2 it became paramount to complete virtue deeds asap because the pot for earning higher ranks was to be cut in half.

People who had high virtue ranks were still being screwed but not as badly as those who'd have to rank up in the new system. The Live Stream confirmed that SSG were happy after running "the numbers" internally, so many might have been intent over the last couple of weeks to complete existing deeds. I've earned quite a chunk of LP myself.

Then comes BR3 and the huge hole in available virtue earning was plugged, suggesting we had been mislead over the "numbers" being fine. This turned the need to complete deeds as quite detrimental to ranking in U24, once you had achieved 20 on live. Literally each further deed you completed would get half the advance and no longer be available to do in U24 for the full advance.

As it stands atm we can say don't rank beyond 20. But we don't know if they are still listening and will make further changes. All the signs, form the Live Stream again, are no more betas so that's usually on with the release instead.

But I also want to ask, if we are having VXP added to festivals, should we not also add VXP to endgame raiding (Anvil)?

And by that I mean to add a chance to drop VXP tomes in the raid, like
-15% chance to drop a 1k VXP tome on T1 per chest
-25% chance to drop a 1k VXP tome on T2 per chest
-25% chance to drop a 2k VXP tome on T3 per chest

It seems only fair that if we are expanding Virtues beyond deeds now to even festival, that we should add a little something to raids as well. Anvil could go for some new desired loot since T2 loot is pretty well acquired now and the T3 loot drops are... meh.

I dont know about other people, but I personally well have no time to do dailies on more than 1, 2 toons max in the new area for VXP between IRL commitments and raiding as we are a raiding kin, it what we enjoy doing in the game. Dailies are good way to keep new areas populated of course as long as the rewards are good and 6k VXP via 2 weekly wrappers sounds not too bad to me, but I would have to give up something, either raiding or IRL stuff, to be farming that on all my level cap toons (thats just dailies, no way I have time to farm festivals) so I would hope I can keep doing the same current content (Anvil raid) to work towards it

Just seems fair if festivals get VXP added to them, that raiding does as well. And with T1/T2 drops, even the casual raiders can be getting some VXP for doing the raid.
    This would be nice.

A lot of thoughtful comments in this thread.

But as usual SSG is slamming the update to the live servers tomorrow.

    So sad.

Indeed, this new virtue system is a hot mess.

Live patch notes don't mention that the new 64-bit client doesn't support Lua (plugins). That should probably be in the Known Issues section, right? Or is it fixed already?

Beta 1 SSG said Plug-Ins didn't work. They said the same thing for Beta 2 but if I recall correctly I could use The Compendium/Item Scanner Plug In and others said that plug-ins worked for them as well. So I guess they got them to work.

So, if you had an Aria of the Valar lying around you were going to use on a character at some point.... better to use it before or after update?
Or in the end, you going to get 1000VXP either way.

I have a Aria of the Valar Virtue Box sitting in my vault. According to the patch notes it should change to a box with a bunch of virtue point potions. The patch notes also say "Note that the Virtue XP items from the Valars are acquired via a quest after consuming the Valar levelup item." So my question is does my box change to a potion box or not?

I'll update tomorrow when it goes live.

So if the virtue box does change I don't think it matters. If it doesn't change then at that point its too late? I guess it all depends.

I would probably just use it afterwards so you can use the potions to pick which virtue you want to level instead of getting rank 12 on all of them.

According the various players from the 2nd 64bit beta, some plugins worked, some didnt; I suppose there is a chance they have most of them working by now; however as I read it, only the new area is being pushed out today, not the 64bit client.

Since I am not even sure I will bother reaching Mordor this year; today just means no game for a few hours*, and this Virtue change.

It will be interesting to see how they handle F2P with the new Virtue system.

I suspect the 64bit client will be launched to great fanfares.

    * So, do I do something constructive, or do I spend that time trolling Trump fans??

64-bit is indeed included and the fanfare has been postponed due to a bug in the sound system.
