My biggest fear is that once i click the button to scan my old LIs to calculate how much Ancient Scripts i receive the 4 FA LIs plus SA bridle and 5 TA weapons I currently have will push me far in excess of the 10,000 Ancient Script cap and i drastically lose out

In the current BR build, scanning your LI max push you over the Ancient Script 10k limit. (I was at limit, scanned one weapon, had 14,500/10,000 Ancient Script afterwards.) You cannot increase AS another way while over the 10k limit though.

Im really hyped about new li system. At least something different after so many years. Hopefully it will scale better than older one and all old lis with swaps only purpose coz of old legacies will stay in the past. Next step i want to see is balancing 2h vs dual damage output to get rid of weapon swap for every skill. I expect conversion rate to be decent. I dont want everything on day 1 despite all the time i spent in the game, even counting those hundreds of mt dailies runs.

Well, there are a bunch of people who stay completely oblivious to changes or even current events in the game. Plenty of people don't read the patch notes, don't read the details on the launcher, or don't even really pay attention to what pops up on the splash screen. Some still don't have auto-accept quest on and therefore don't get the maps for the festivals within the 5 minute time-limit of logging in. I recall telling one person that they could catch up on the details while the game patches. Their rebuttal was that they use that time to go for a walk. Well... I guess I can't deny them the opportunity to stay healthy.

Just think about all the information we get outside of the game. We go to the lotro schedule thread to check how long something is. The wiki helps us so much with certain quests that are a little harder to complete. It was entirely possible for someone to continue leveling up without ever learning out that the imbuement process for LIs even existed at level 100 unless someone told them.

The good news is Cordovan stated that "convert" is going to be changed to a different word. The LI guide simply says "button" at least until they can come up with a proper word. I am kind of liking "appraise" myself. Though if people don't read the patch notes like they should, they definitely won't know about where to go. It will be up to us to help usher them through the process and repeat a message every 30 minutes in World Chat like usual... since so many of them think it is much easier just to ask the question in World Chat instead of checking things out for themselves.

Well, there have being talk at Twitter & other social medias, World chat channel & i bet also inside many kinships. Unless the person haven't log in a long time or have disabled all public chat channels & never talk with anyone, may have heard something by now.

Thank you for the comments clarifying that the current BR release allows you to 'cash-in' one weapon at a time. I can see myself spending a lot of time deciding what options to choose for my two 130 level characters, and my 105 level warden, all of which have multiple FA LIs.

On a seperate note - does this mean that guardians will finally lose the 'Shield Use' legacy? My dps build will be happy....

Something that tends to get lost in the discussions: you don't really 'cash-in' your old LI.

When you convert/scan/whatever they'll name it your old LI you get to keep it. The price for that is that you will not be able upgrade the old LI with scrolls, crystals or reforging. I don't consider that an issue, as further investing in old style LIs seems a silly thing to do.

My approach is simply to wait and see how it works after release. Since we still will be able to use existing scrolls and star-lits on existing LIs. They have said the two systems will run in parallel for a while.

So if we can get new currency for a scroll or star-lit I will see how much. If adding it to a LI will improve the conversion rate I will see how much. Then do whatever makes sense.

A bunch of old legacies on old LIs of various classes have been either zeroed, fixed at a low number, or still have the +174% but are no longer hooked up based on combat analysis. Many but not all are the global boosts. Be wary.

Using old LIs is possible though there are notes that mixing an old and a new isn’t allowed so you have to flash change.

As far as convert there has to be a balance on giving enough currency for the un-imbued LIs for the chars 100 and below to build replacements. The cost are the same regardless of tracery level from what I remember.


All in all it’s unfinished but a reasonable work in progress. Similar to the combat tables rework it took months of adjustment to get back to a new normal.

No not really, there were people who didn't even realize not only are we weeks away from 2 Large Updates but we've had multiple Previews of the first Update just here on Wednesday

LOTRO always has and always will have a small minority who keep up with things, check the forums and then an even smaller minority who actually post.

On Bullroarer, you were allowed to exceed the Ancient Script cap when you got the tokens for an old LI and it wouldn't prevent you from doing another one. While you are over the cap, you only lose Ancient Scripts you might get from other sources (whatever those might be). The other items you get are bound to account and go into inventory so are not capped.
