    No new Xmas Hobbit Presents?

I just opened a few gold Hobbit Presents and got last years christmas cosmetics? Can SSG confirm that the Hobbit Presents haven't been updated with new items this year?

Last year they did have new mounts, pets, fireplace, a new tree etc, and the previous years stuff was available in the occasional selection box you'd get. I was really looking forward to some new stuff this year as my Christmas house has lots of empty hooks still!

If you mean in Bullroarer, yes I also noticed there's no new Yule presents, the only ones linked were last year's. But we haven't had any official word - I guess tomorrow we'll find out if there's any 2021 gifts

When I logged in today on Crickhollow the Holiday Hobbit Presents were live. I opened 6 gold presents and got 1 Fireplace, 1 Goat of Winter Cheer and 2 Pet Cozy Kids. I'm not complaining about my haul as all are still of 'use' for alts, but I am curious if there are no new Hobbit Present items this year.

Oh I haven't logged in at all today (got Horizon Zero Dawn for Xmas and I've been hitting that hard lol)
I guess if the presents were live today as they were last year, you may be right and we may not have new items.

I'm hopeful there is a repeat so I can use some of those from last year! RNG 'gifts' is a Scrooge and fun spoiling move imo. I would like to put an evergreen scone either side of fireplace - and in all rooms as well but got 1 despite opening gifts every day on 2 VIP accounts. I would love to have a wall of the evergreen garlands with wreaths in between but that is impossible with bells on. Odds of getting that item are 1 in 50 or more based on last year's rng and I would like 20 of them to do the decorations I want. Apart from objecting to reinforcing Scrooge behavior there is no point in buying mc given the crazy quantum that would be needed to acquire the items I want. Repeating last year's decorations gives me a chance of getting at least some of those I wasn't able to get last year.

A compromise mechanic could be to put old decorations in the store the following Yule. Those who wanted to spend mc to have them right away would still do so and the hobbit boxes would be gifts since saved us spending mc on some items the following year instead of sources of frustration.

I hope there are NO new hobbit gift pets and mounts. Because as a mount and pet collector this is pain!!

Correct, the Yuletide Hobbit Gifts have returned but are the same gifts as last year.

Good, please keep it this way if possible. Blocking these items through pay to win RNG is a horrible move, it would be OK if you could get them elsewhere, but it's super shady to only make them available through a slot machine.

I agree. I would even buy them in the store but will not gamble.

Will older hobbit gifts from years past ever become available again?? Like the rug, wallpaper, chandelier, etc?? If not, please explain what is the point of making them obsolete?!? They are beautiful designs created by talented people and gameplayers would like to enjoy them. Sigh.

Cosmetics can be pay to win? Are you playing Lotro as a beauty contest? Interesting.

I think they're pretty plainly saying they're against items being made exclusively for gambling via real money, or some game currency bought with real money. Being long familiar with this argument from both psychologists and now law makers, I would have to agree. Every item would be better off sold directly in the LOTRO store.

The real end-game for MMOs is always cosmetics!

FYI, all the Yule quests give straight IXP amounts instead of IXP runes we can save for the reward track, so it's all going to waste.

Well, I was looking forward to spending about $40 on these boxes and so I am disappointed that they haven't been updated. In the past few years I have really enjoyed that pre-Christmas moment when I open up the Gold Hobbit Presents (which I don't normally do) and getting the cool normal loot and the holiday stuff on top. I found them to be fantastic value (because you want bulk numbers of items so repeats for most things are not just worthwhile, they're desired) and my house looks great, though still with lots of room for new holiday items. I, of course, buy the 'free' stuff in Frostbluff too, but I am happy to support the game buying cosmetics like this, especially at this value level.

I'd much rather the expansions were free and they did more of this. Charging for content just cuts lots of players out of the endgame, charging for cosmetics hurts no one. (I am not pro all lootboxes, but I am pro the ones that provide a lot of value relative to normal microtransactions. At a certain point lootboxes become non-random at scale, and the holiday hobbit presents very much fall into the category of generous lootboxes, so 'scale' is relatively cheap to achieve.)
