I honestly have never had much more luck with Erebrandir's Horseshoe than without it as far as I can tell, but I use it out of habit on my alts anyway (I chose the other quest reward on my main before I heard that the horseshoe actually had any purpose to it).

In terms of Easter eggs I've found (and plenty of other people probably have, too):

-There's a Goldilocks and the Three Bears cabin in the Eastemnet in the forest south of Beaconwatch. There's three bear NPCs outside, three different-sized bowls of porridge on the table inside, and three different-sized beds with a little blonde girl sleeping in the smallest one.

-In Bree, near the Scholar's stair, there's a group of dwarves who appear to be shooting craps (or, rather, they look like they're throwing dice against the wall) and are very emotive about it.

-On the upper level of the Scholar's Stair, there are two women and two children bathing a pair of dogs. I walked up to them once when the dogs were spotted-brown and went AFK for about 2 minutes, then came back and the dogs were just gray. It's possible it was just a color-twin change, but I did it again and it really does seem like the dogs were being bathed and the mud was gradually washed off them. It was weird.

-In Galtrev, on the path up the hill to the upper level, there's a playground with wooden jungle gyms and little wooden oxen. There are Dunlending children playing and their parents standing around, chatting, or sitting on the park bench keeping an eye on the kids.

-For hobbit characters, you get a bonus quest in Enedwaith at the entrance to Taur Mova (spelling?) in which you get to educate the local Stoor-hobbits about pipeweed and bring them seeds from the Shire. Because why not spread lung cancer around?

There are plenty of others, but those are the ones that come to mind at the moment. I don't spend enough time lurking on the boards to know how widely any of these are known in the LOTRO community.

I know where my captain is going next... help the rangers but abandon them halfway because making turtle soup in Bree-land is much more fun!
On the 'hidden things', there was this great thread somewhere which had about 70 pages of easter eggs.. but I seem to have lost the link :'(
The Goldilocks House was a nice surprise; did any of you find the other house in the Eastfold with 'weird' inhabitants? From Aldburg, you can actually walk quite a distance to the south up in the White Mountains, one day I want to find a druadan hiding there
Not all those who wander are lost

    AH-HA!
I did that quest now on my lvl 82 character (wearing the horseshoe) who hadn't done it before.. and right after on a 38 char (not wearing the horseshoe, obviously), just to be sure I had found the correct Easter Egg instead of missing some ordinary hmm.. "scene" every time until now.. :P

All I'm going to say is:
    - It involves a funny hobbit
    - Be sure to explore (hinthint)

Thanks, although it was you who provoked MoL to give away the most useful information I just happened to notice yesterday that my 82 GRD hadn't done the quest yet and was reminded by it when I read this thread here.

Now I wonder...if a person who has already completed Turtle Soup goes back with the horseshoe, would that person find the same funny hobbit and get the same interaction? Or is this only something that happens while somewhere within the quest string...? Time to go put on my horseshoe and look around Bree and Staddle and the Everclear Lakes region a bit.

I'm almost positive I was wearing the horse-shoe for this entire quest chain, as I waited until I was L85 and had done most of the combat content. Apart from that, I wear it all the time.

Apparently you must still be in the quest string to find this easter egg...just looked all over (with horseshoe) having completed Turtle Soup long ago...no funny hobbit reacting to me at any of the quest spots. Ah well.

    SPOILER ALERT!!!!

Here's a screen shot that might help. Orient yourself on the notary lady in the town hall, as I did. See those boxes halfway up the stairs? That's them. Jump over them so you're in the far corner, looking behind the upper part of the stairs, and you'll find the lad.

I find it highly unlikely this is the egg that is being referred to. The egg you're screenshoting near, was found in the beta long ago =)

Yes it is. The poster said he had not seen the child, and I told him where to find him, and then he said he'd never seen the boxes either.

The screen shot was for the other person who was having trouble finding the correct boxes in the town hall, not the one related to the horseshoe/turtle soup easter egg.

Yeah, I can confirm that you have to be in the quest line.

This isnt really an easter egg but I found it funny. Was doing The Buried Truth in Wildermoore today, where you free the wailing dargul. After I broke into the tomb and killed the master, I went back to the wailing dargul. After turning in the quest, the dargul shouts IM FREE and runs down the hill, takes a left and starts swimming around the island. I stood the watching him until he vanished, as they do. I then turned to leave. Something made me turn around, however, and there he was, back in the water. He then turned around and looked at me. I got the DISTINCT impression he was waiting for me to leave the area so he could run back up the hill and be ready for the next player.

Heh, Crell, you're getting confused by the fact that we have two parallel discussions of DIFFERENT easter eggs. When I responded to you, I was talking about the Turtle Soup / funny hobbit easter egg. When I responded to CDQ with the screen shot, it was about the boy with the toys easter egg.

He he he. Yep, I'm blind. I've run past that spot hundreds of times and have never seen those boxes. Funny how the mind works.

Oh yes, that was one of the neat, unique things about that zone! The hobbit at the gate of that little settlement has a different starter quest for everyone, depending on race. I don't remember them all, but for men, he thinks you're a giant and asks you to go kill an evil goat...for elves he thinks you're a ghost and asks you to do something else to prove yourself...you mentioned the hobbit quest...and I don't think I ever took a dorf through there so no idea what he asks of them. But very cool that it varies that way!

p.s. There's a list somewhere in the forums of all the "themed" cabins in West Rohan...there are about six of them, plus a special white deer / turtle hideout thingy. You can search for the link pretty easily if you'd like, I think.

p.p.s. Back to the Enedwaith hobbit community: SPOILER ALERT: did you know there's a hidden fishing hole there, complete with its own discovery deed and title?

Depending upon how "New" you want --

The snowman village in Tâl Methedras.

There is "Lill Bear Ganker" and his friends in the Wailing Hills and Wildermore.

An assortment of "broken" snowmen in Wildemore.

Lore wise is Eorl's Hallow and The Stone of Wyrgende in East Rohan.

And of course, The Golden Hall of Meduseld in Edoras.
