Another girl, 36. This is my first MMORPG. Played a lot of D&D in the 80s/90s and a lot of things like Baldur's Gate, Planescape Torment, Arcanum, etc. It's hard to adjust to not being able to pause after each attack!

A friend who has been on here since the beta wanted to start playing with other people but not with strangers, so he bribed me and my boyfriend (major Tolkien fan, also no MMORPG exp) by buying us the software.

My brother has been in WOW since it started (Crazy Crew, I think) and he agreed that LOTRO would be an easier place for me to start. Not necessarily a maturity thing but at least a higher level of new people and thus more tolerance for not having a clue what you're doing. And just fewer people, so less overwhelming.

We haven't tried joining up with other people yet, so I have no idea about gender-related treatment. I've been on a comicbook message board for years, however, so I know how things can go.

Is vegas_librarian really a librarian? If so, me too!
