    Re: I Remember When...

    Oh forgot about these two:

-Remember when Creeps first got maps in beta, and when they used them we were ported to Archet

    Good time that was lol.

Too bad we got a world announcement that any monster player cought outside of the moors would be banned.

lol funnest two hrs I've had in a long time.

Probably the closest to a anything goes PvP server in lotro lol.

And the old old old conjunction skill.

In alphas. when a mob got a conjunction opener on him, you had to use a conjunction skill first to open the CJ UI.

There was a little red ball that popped up over his head, when you seen that, you had to use your cj skill, then open the ui, then do the conjunction lol

    Re: I Remember When...

Been wanting to do this for a while. Here goes:

. . . farmers & cooks would go broke (myself included) trying to level in skills. Couldn't understand why water, flour & eggs had to cost so much. . .

. . . we all thought it was our little secret that the vendor in Bree Town Hall was half the price of anyone else. Many times we'd hoof it to the hall just to save a few copper on craft stuff.

. . . all of the morale and power potions looked exactly the same. The only way to tell the difference was to mouse over.

. . . the polished and unpolished gems looked the same. Same with the wood and hides.

. . . everyone piled on to the Roheryn server just to be one of the first to check out housing. . . chasing around the devs on the server to pick up the unique items to put in the house. . . actually being excited about getting my first birch tree (before I had several of them in storage)!

. . . I had to plan my trips into the Trollshaws just to make sure I avoided the trolls on the road at night.

. . . I saw the Party Tree and Bag End for the first time and realized this was the game for me!

. . . I first saw the 50th level Earth-kin (purple!) over by Ost Guruth and tried to sneak around them (until I realized that they wouldn't attack me).

. . . I first learned about the ABC music system. I immediately went to some other sites to learn how to make a song myself.

Well, this morning in Esteldin I was looking for the crafting table which used to be outside, I had forgotten it was moved in the crafting hall

Oooh that reminds me of one more:

. . . the crafting hall in Bree used to be on the other side of the street. Also, when the Combe craft hall used to be outside.

Hahaha, I remember that, and the people that didn't read the patch notes went, "What happened to the Bree crafting hall?"

...Which I was guilty of doing.

I remember when monster players wouldn't interrupt inductions for Hunters because players had collision models.

    Oh wait...that never happened...and still hasn't...

IRW I first tried to get my horse once I had saved enough gold. I was trotting down the path and next thing you know I fell into what must have been a really deep puddle even though there was no water near me. I almost shed a tear I was soo mad. After yelling in the OOC for ages someone said to jump the whole way!! That was the crappiest thing to happen to me

I remember the first time looking at the valley of Rivendell and being so awestruck by what I saw...

I remember the first time I played an Elf after Ered Luin dropped and laughing when folks who weren't familiar with the books were yelling in OOC 'Elrond has [i]sons[/]?!'

I remember standing at the Dwarven beginner instance with a big group of fellow dwarves who were 'oooh' and 'aahhh' over Thorin Oakenshield and Gandalf arguing... and yes, I was 'oooh'ing and 'aahhh'ing too.

I remember the last time I resurrected this thread -- minstrels were still having fun.

I remember when we logged on to chair train -- those were good times.

I remember when there was no pressure related to festivals -- a little patience and you could get what you liked.

I remember when I only had good things to say about LotRO -- I want those times to come again.

Who remembers the concerts in Bree? Of Oceanic players getting together to play "We are Australian"?

I remember once being lost in the Old Forest for over an hour, things were still coloured to me. It was the most angry and frustrating hour of my LOTRO life because I had gotten very good at running away and avoiding enemies (stealth helped) and I was just too stubborn to let myself get killed in the hopes that it would rally me outside.
When I finally found my way out I was in tears.
Then later when i returned I realised that I could now find my way anywhere in the Old Forest, I always knew where I was and where I was going. And I've loved the Old Forest ever since. I used to run through it as a shortcut from Breeland to Buckland. People thought I was mad. I would often run in valiantly to answer some other player's cry of distress.
Then when they changed the paths around I was still happy, becuase I still knew exactly where to go and how.
I was really quite sad when they made the trees passive, I honestly enjoyed seeing them wave their branches threateningly at me.

I remember doing the Great Barrow and fighting Sambrog for the very first time, seeing his nemesis flier and at the end thinking that it had truly been an epic battle. I remember wiping on him many times and people laughing when I called him "Sammy".

I remember raising a dozen or so characters to lv 15, deleting them, then making more.

I remember when Brownlock's Knife was something that I aspired towards and craved with all my heart.

I remember when the Bree banker was outside the bank building. You just ran up and did your business right there in the lane!

I remember when the mayor of Bree and all his cronies were outside of the Town Hall too.

I (fondly) remember when you got a "discount" by purchasing goods from the NPC merchant in the Town Hall.

I remember wondering what the first expansion would be... and whether Turbine could keep the quality level of the game in tact till it was released... (they didn't let me down!)

    Re: I Remember When...

Oh man, there are a lot of great memories...

    - The first time I saw Bag End, and thought that Turbine had nailed hobbit holes perfectly. They blew it big time with player housing though.

    - Standing on top of Bag End for the first time and staring eastward off into the distance. It was beautiful and instantly made me want to go exploring.

    - Like many others, the first time I entered the original Old Forest, it was scary and dangerous. The music was perfect. The ambience was perfect. Everything about it was perfect. I got lost a LOT, but that's part of what made it intimidating and fun. If you made it out alive and in one piece, you felt like you had actually accomplished something.

    - Exploring Starmere Lake when they first added it. It was frustrating to keep running into invisible walls there, so finally being able to explore that area was awesome.

    - Trying to make it to Rivendell as a lvl 11 hunter before closed beta ended. I made it all the way to the Fords of Bruinen and then got promptly murdered.

    - The first time I made it to Bree and running around trying to find the Prancing Pony.

I remember when the last forum purge happened. Everyone was caught off guard and we lost some really interesting threads (most notably, TSK's "I hate this game" threads).

Thanks for the advanced warning Sapience!

I remember the ghost bear scaring the **** out of me somewhere near weathertop. I literally almost fell out of my chair.

I remember when the economy was completely changed in closed beta, and everyone completely flipping out because noone could afford anything.

I remember the end of closed beta event, and 5000 people trying to kill drakes in the middle of Rivendell... It lagged so much you couldn't move, but we had a blast anyway. Also, the giant dev players giving out mad lewt in front of the bridge outside of trestlebridge.

I remember my first time looking down from weathertop, and down into Rivendell.

I remember the old old forest, and at one point thinking I might never get out alive. WTH is that a tree chasing me? Good times.

    Re: I Remember When...

I remember when this thread was an interesting read - before it dissolved into the pettiest bickering I've seen since high school.

Turbine already said that the guidelines still apply even in light of the purge, and that threads that were necro'd didn't mean they were necessarily going to survive if they thought someone was abusing the situation.

If nobody thought the tread was interesting, it would fall off the front page in the matter of a day - Instead however, we have this little argument keeping the thread alive unnecessarily - partially by the same person who made such a big deal about the thread being necro'd in the first place.

..... fighting Bloodtusk for the first time.
Had to get a small fellowship together.
I saw someone solo him and was like WOW, cool man. (now with our starter gear, he's nothing).

.... walking through the Archet gates and seeing Combe for the first time - at night. It looked so cool.

.... Getting Cheif Watchers Bow at level 17 with my first character. I thought that was the HUGEST acheivement. I was proud of that bow big time.

..... Fighting the troll on weathertop... and he was a Nemesis! What a GRAND fight! (he's been dumbed down to an elite master with half the health).

..... Making my first Undying title (character has since been rerolled and died at level 9 - on purpose).

..... Went into GA for the first time... and we wiped big time.

Just leave it alone. I've deleted my posts in hopes we can "unstain" the thread.

Man, I remember how hard that brigand camp was north of Bloodtusk. I was so scared to go in there alone.

I also remember how cool it was when I realized I could get up on the hills around Archet and watch the newbies.
