    Dynamic fansite

    Heya Lotro-players!

Are you looking for a website that contains maps, items, recipes, traits, character journals, and forums?

Yes, there is a site that contains all of that in one place! Check it out at www.lotroalliance.com

The maps are displayed in a window - allowing you to move it wherever you want on the screen. There are even size and quality options!
The search feature allows you to search all the maps at once - if there is only one map that contains that location, it will automatically display. If there is more than one location, a list will show you possible maps you can choose from. You can even search for just part of the location name - no more needing to look up the exact spelling!

The character journal displays your character just like in-game! You can browse the items database and drag the item(s) you are wearing right into the journal! Security features have been added so your character can be hidden from others if you so desire.

We are working on adding a legendary item feature, which will allow you to keep track of your legendary items on the site.

We are always open to ideas, suggestions and feedback. Please check it out and let us know what you think! www.lotroalliance.com

I've been asked by a few people what the toolbar is for at the bottom of the screen when you log into the site...

It looks very similar to the in-game toolbar we are already very familiar with... but we made this one work with the website! There are buttons for checking your PM's, opening the maps, checking out your character journal (if you create a character) and more!

This handy tool follows you from page to page on the site, so you are always within easy reach of all the tools you need! The icons even light up when you receive a new PM or if there is a new event you qualify for, or if a new person joined your kinship. This keeps you notified instantly - without having to reload any pages!

Thank you - I hope you find it useful!

We are in the process of opening back up some of the pages we had to temporarily disable during our web 2.0 update. Namely the Recipes and Sets pages.

Keep an eye out for those to open later this week!

I like the maps, but can you make another size smaller? The small size on 1024x768 still takes up most of the browser window.

Ah... that is something we didn't consider. With the new map windows, you are unable to scroll to see the bottom of the maps. You are able to change the map sizes, but with 780x585 being the smallest, you still might not be able to see if fully on a screen with 1024x768 resolution due to the web browser taking up so much of the available space...

I do believe we need to add adjust the resolutions to fit inside the browsers better or add a 'tiny' map option that will allow you to view it with a lower resolution. Thanks for the suggestion!

Alright, 'tiny' maps have been added to the site... This will allow those that have low resolution monitors, TV's, or those people that like tiny maps to view!

    Thank you Gillros.

Some updates we can get implemented very quickly, while others take a bit of time due to all the back-end coding that needs to be done to make it work properly. (Not to mention all the time it takes to get Internet Explorer to function and display properly).

Our goal is to make this fansite contain all the features that the players of Lotro need... to do that, we listen to the suggestions of - you guessed it - the players of Lotro!

The entire site was coded by one person and the databases filled by 4 others, so it has taken some time to get to the point where the site is useful, but I think we are catching up fast!

If you or anyone you know would like to help us, let me know. We are always looking for suggestions and helpful people that want to build the best fansite available!

    Re: Dynamic fansite

We have updated the site to be a little quicker and the cookies work all the time now.

Also, we've added the item-master icon to the maps, making it easier to find the Forge-master and Relic-master.

A new 'help' feature has been added to provide you with an 'at-your-fingertips' guide to the features on the site. Just look for the [?] icon (found next to the [X] icon on the windows. Clicking this icon will bring up a window with helpful guides on the specific page you happen to be visiting.
