    Free Trial Crashing

    Hi Everyone,

    This looks to be a fun game and I am hoping to stay and play with you all, however, I am having some connection issues.

    I installed the free trial today and played till level 3, logged off, came back to play again but my system couldn't find some critical game file so I wound up uninstalling and installing it all again. This time I got to level 5 with no problem, then suddenly started crashing in the middle of a quest. I crashed twice in the same quest. The 2nd time, when I logged back on, I found my character had "succumbed to her wounds." I figured it might be useless to try and continue playing so I retreated back to Archet and logged off.

    I am wondering if this is a glitch with the trial program or with my system. I play on a laptop, a Dell Inspiron 1525, which was not really designed with gaming in mind but I've been playing WoW on it for 7 months now with no problem. Is it possible that the system can't handle two games? If this is the case, if I decide to upgrade would it be possible for me to upgrade the account to a different computer (my desktop) than the one the trial account is installed on?

    Also, I do have Windows Vista, but the game graphic resolution was set only to Medium.

    Are you using the Turbine Download Manager? If so, it might be crashing because it hasnt downloaded the content you are trying to play. You can either wait for the TDM to finish downloading, or completely uninstall that useless software, and install the full client from lotro.com, support, installation, question #1.

    That may indeed have been the problem. After I posted this I opened the program back up again and noticed it was still downloading. I hadn't realized that as the only other game I'd ever played didn't even let me start playing until completely installed. Seems to be finished now so I'll see how it goes today.

    I appreciate the quick reply.
