    Character Journal

www.lotroalliance.com has finally re-opened the Character Journal feature! For those of you who are already familiar with the feature, you will be happy to see the improvements we've made. For those that are not familiar with the Journal, you should check it out!

The Journal can be accessed by logging into the site and clicking the Character Journal button on the toolbar located at the bottom of the page.

Character Journal Button on the toolbar

The Journal itself is broken into five main parts, just like the in-game journal:
    • Character - where all the information about stats and items you are wearing is located. We also added your equipped traits to this tab to make it more convenient.
    • Craft - where all the information about your chosen craft vocation is located. Currently, all that is displayed is your craft-tier.
    • War - where all the information about the war in the Ettenmoors is located.
    • Reputation - Where all the information about the reputation factions and your standing with them
    • Bio - Place where you can write a little bit about yourself.

These main tabs are always visible to you, however, you can keep others from viewing specific parts of your character journal if you choose. You can change these settings under the 'Security Settings' located under the 'characters' tab in your 'User Control Panel'. Each character you create on this site can have different security settings. Please note that while anyone can see a direct link to a character, the security settings block information. If 'View Character' is set so that a given user does not meet requirements, it will break the reference to your username (similar to ''anonymous on http://my.lotro.com ).
The security can be set up in the following manner:
    • Nobody: No one can see this main tab other than you.
    • Alliance Members: Just alliance members of Member status and higher.
    • Alliance: All alliance members (including recruit).
    • Kinship Officers: Just kinship members of Officer status and higher.
    • Kinship Members: Just kinship members of Member status and higher.
    • Kinship: All kinship members (including recruit).
    • Non-guest Members: Non-guests are members of this site who belong to any kinship. Member status or higher.
    • Non-guest: All members of this site who belong to a kinship (including recruit).
    • Registered: Anyone who has registered to this site.
    • Everyone: Everyone. Literally - including people who are not logged in.

Like the in-game journal, you can 'equip' and un-equip' items or traits to observe how your stats change. By opening the Character Journal while you are browsing the items page, you can simply drag an item's icon to the correct slot on your Character Journal and it will be 'equipped'. To remove an item, drag the icon from the slot to the trashcan symbol on the right side of the Journal. Traits work in the same way... simply drag the icon to the correct slot on your Journal.

We've included the ability for you to sync your character with the one on my.lotro.com This can be handy if you cannot remember the item(s) you are currently wearing.

To sync your character, go to the User Control Panel and under 'Character Builds' choose 'Sync Build'. Or you can open your Character Journal and mouse over the blue triangle next to your character's name. A drop-down will appear with the 'Sync Build' option available.

Sync Character option on the character build drop-down.

Choosing to sync your character will pull all the items you are wearing according to my.lotro.com and slot them on the journal on this site. Keep in mind there is a delay on my.lotro.com vs in-game. You might have equipped a new item that is not represented on my.lotro.com yet. To compensate, you can change what you are wearing on this site. It is also possible that the my.lotro.com has items that are not in our database yet. If this happens, this site will add a new item to our database. It will not have any stats, since those need to be added manually, but the item will exist and flagged so someone that can add the stats can get them properly added.

By going to the User Control Panel and choosing 'Characters' you can upload an avatar or picture of your in-game character so the Journal is more personalized. Try it out!
