Hunter Skill Layout

Hey guys/ladies! So I have a lvl. 45 elf hunter, and I was wondering how the upper level hunter have their skills laid out for pvmp and just questing. I've tried looking for a thread like this but I can't find one...I'm just really looking for a general idea of how to start arranging my skills so they work higher up when i'm closer to 65. Any suggestions or pictures would be awesome!

Find something that works for you, whether you're a key-pusher-typer or a clicker


The more you play the better you'll get at hunter and more used to it you'll be.



Main point: everyone is different, and everyone thinks they got the best set-up. Go with what works for you.

Somewhere someone posted a screenshot of a quickbar that went: Quick Shot > Swift Bow > Penetrating Shot, then had the rest of that bar and several others filled with nothing but Desperate Flight. It was the best hunter quickslot layout I've ever seen.

thanks CWood! i instinctively clicked on the target reticule and wondered why the fellowship maneuvre selection didn't come up. :/ lol


i tend to keep my induction shots lined up directly above my focus shots, and my melee skills are above the induction shots or to the right, depending on what they do. stances to the left, consumables on the right. yes. you guessed it, i'm a mouse clicker.

I didn't take this for the purpose of the skill layout, but I didn't hide it for the screenie. It's tiny, but you should be able to recognize them.

PS is farther right b/c of it's occasional CC use in 4+ ToF.

(The blank 2 spaces on the second bar by PO/SotE and are potions I moved out of inventory to make room for fish.)

I'm surprised to see not any (or many) remapping of keys going on. I have my comma, period, all 3 aux mouse buttons, the X key, and a few other keys I'm forgetting off the top of my head all remapped to various skills and aliases.

Also helps to have a Logitech keyboard with additional macro keys to map combos to. The best one is the dismount(comma)-select(delete)-use(u)-pause-remount(comma) key combo for doing drive-by node harvesting. Cheezed off many an ore farmer trying to beat me on foot to those oh-so-precious DI nodes. The harvest induction bar is 80% filled before the dismount animation finishes.

I just noticed that third icon from the left on the top bar and said, "What the **** is that?". Then is dawned on me that I've not bothered to log my hunter in long enough to purchase the Beneath Care skill. Since I don't see BN anywhere I can only assume that's what it is.

DF placed way out there by itself by the Tea because, well... uh... I've had too many accidents.

Also, very happy about being able to port from the skill menu now. Only keep Moria and campsite (Thangulhad) hotbar'd and it's mahvelous.

I really like that set up, the only thing missing for me would be Merciful Shot

They are totally off from the rest of the screen but its okay! Im assuming you went from small window to full screen for the screen shot as why your stuff is messed up.

Or at least thats what happened to me when I used to do that.
