Looking for Direction with my Mini

    Hello,

I started a mini a little while back and just reached level 40. Until now I didn't have a problem with much including quests 2-3 levels above me. I'm just getting to Angmar and really getting my butt kicked a little bit. I wanted to post some stats so you experienced mini's can help me figure out how to change my build to be better Am specifically looking for advice on what to increase using gear, deeds etc.

    Morale 1423
    Power 1646

    Might 129
    Agility 86
    Vitality 135
    Will 235
    Fate 220

If any other info would be helpful please let me know and I will provide it!

    Thanks for your time!

The 40s are the commuting stage for most classes, and that's true for Minstrels as well. You're going to be bouncing between the Trollshaws (Candelleth area), Angmar and Misty Mountains for the most part. The reason why is that the quest levels tend to be a bit skewed in these areas... tend to climb in difficulty more than your experience at the moment, that sort of thing. If you're finding you're hitting a tough patch in Angmar, I'd suggest visiting one or both of the other two areas. Between the three of them, you'll find your sweet-spot and truck along handily.

Beyond that, I don't believe your gear is terribly skewed at the moment. You'll want to be focusing on Will and Fate, followed by Vitality, which you apparently already have been. The only other area to question is your attack sequences and use of your crowd controls... but seeing as your signature holds a 65 Lore-master, I sincerely doubt that's a problem.

Oh, just as a side thought, they've recently said that they've corrected monster resistances on ~40 level mobs. I doubt this is responsible for your present difficulties, as you should have been experiencing their growing resistance all the way up your level progression.

As has already been said, will and fate are most important, then vitality. You will want to look at trading in your +might gear, because as a minstrel you should be doing as little hand to hand melee combat as possable. When you do get into the hand to hand you will still be using your tactical skills for most damage so trade the +might stuff for + will, fate or vitality wherever you can. The low 40's are tough exp levels for all classes, so just hang in there. Once you get to the upper 40's things will get better.

Thank you for the fast responses!!

No, I don't think cc is a problem, however of course i feel a bit limited based on my main lol.

The might issue I noticed as I was writing my OP. I think the only reason might is high is becasue I crafted my own medium armor set and some of the pieces have big might plus. I haven't added or crafted anything with the intent to increase might. I agree with you there, I found early on i was whacking stuff with my sword but have not done a lot of that lately.

To your resistance point. I just hit 40 so probably can't speak about 40+ resistance I can say that it has been fairly consistant moving up the levels and contrary to many it doesn't seem like an absurd amount of resists. (although if you ask me while fighting multiple mobs I may change my tune )

The mini has been really fun to level, I was pleasantly suprised to see how much damage I could do trated Skald w/ War Speech on. I have been enjoying the class immensly. And to be honest although I hit a bit of a rough patch atm has been as enjoyable as and quite a bit easier to level then my LM.

Re: Looking for Direction with my Mini

This might be a good time to look at some deeds, too -- they can be great for farming cash and for exp. Although not as good exp as quests, it's nice to do deeds while you get exp for them, instead of grinding them out later, especially if you do a bunch of mob x, then a discovery deed or two, then some quests, then a bunch of mob y, etc.

I would imagine you are doing books and pages, also, which will help with deeds in some cases.

If you haven't been, you might consider being more careful about having regen and resist food, and pots, in your bags. On-level pots, ideally, not the stuff you have left over from level 25, lol. If you find yourself getting hit a lot with wounds, poisons, etc., make sure you're using the ballad with those resists on a regular basis, that sort of thing.

Be sure to use the crossed swords (for the debuff) and use Fate and the long-cooldown one after Orome (again for the debuff from Orome), and if you have Unrelenting slotted (assuming you have it, if not, you might want to work on it), don't forget to use Piercing Cry whenever it is up -- the frequent crit rate can do some really nice damage, and if it stuns it's nice to reduce the incoming damage, too.

I hope some of that is helpful -- I know you asked about gear, but that was already pretty much answered.

Re: Looking for Direction with my Mini

I just blasted through the 40s(49 atm) and I didnt have many problems. I started off in MM(ignoring Goblintown) then did southern Trollshaws to get the 3-piece set and went off to Angmar. As soon as I hit 44 I went to Forochel and then to Eregion at... 47 or 48 which is where I am now. I did have some problems, but I would just drop Warspeach and turtle. Make sure to do any on-level book quests now since theyre very good EXP and some decent rewards.

I focused on Fate > Will > resists/Vit. Wound resist helps a ton in Forochel.

I also did the Moria expedition at 45, I couldnt do the one side quest cave with the orcs in it but everything else was easy.

    Might 178
    Agility 194
    Vitality 294
    Will 282
    Fate 304

I'm about done w/ first tier supreme jewler and about to make up some more gear w/ my SMK tailor, i'd like to see Will and Fate go higher and lower Might and Agility. I find myself only dying or havign trouble now when I run low on power.

Any suggestions on jewlery I should be making? And if so and you happen to know where/how I can acquire recipe's that would be great

    Thanks again!
