Newbie questions: pet targeting and macros

I'm new to the game, and haven't figured out a way to target my pet from the keyboard. Is it possible?

Also, can macros be built? Any guides for them? I just want to do something simple like target my pet and heal it.

    Thx much!

Hit F1 once to select yourself, and again to select your pet.

As far as I know there is no way to make macros unless you have something like a G13 keyboard (which has programmable buttons).

Another handy thing to do is to going into your Options > Combat tab, and check the "Skill Target Forwarding" box (in fact, on all my toons, I check everything but "Move Toward Target".)

This will allow you to heal your pet "through" your target (assuming your pet is tanking for you, for instance.) You won't have to change targets, just throw your heal skill at the mob and it will heal his target.

    Pretty slick, right there.

Excellent advise right there. I'll add just one thing:
You can also press the F key (at least I think F is the default) to select the target of your target.

    Thx! Very helpful advice!

Are there any other effects of having "skill target forwarding" enabled?

Most of my playing will be with two friends who have picked Champions (yeah, it will be fun to work out not breaking mez). If I have "skill target forwarding" enabled, and both my friends and my pet are all attacking the same monster, who gets healed?

Couple more controls questions (I'll test these, but I love quick and easy answers):
    - When tabbing through enemies, what determines the order? Is it by distance from me?
    - What happens with spells that are in mid-cast when I do a target switch?

    Thx again for the help!

"If I have "skill target forwarding" enabled, and both my friends and my pet are all attacking the same monster, who gets healed?"
--The person the mob was attacking when you first clicked the heal will get it.

"When tabbing through enemies, what determines the order? Is it by distance from me?"
--I believe it's by the distance from you in the direction the camera is facing.

"What happens with spells that are in mid-cast when I do a target switch? "
--The spell affects the person/mob that was targeted when you first cast the spell.

As for skill target forwarding, it's nice for the healer because you can easily heal whoever the mob (especially a boss) is beating on. Also, if you have one specific person targeted to heal you don't have to re-target to use an attack.

Thx very much. Definitely sounds like this makes healing pretty easy.
