    Cosmetics

One aspect of the game I really paid no attention to until recently. Anyone know of any good pieces that are already, or can be died solid black. Want to play around with some of this stuff but not even sure where to start or look in game. The little icons don't give very much in the way of appearance.

I know there are some nice pieces that come out of the rift, short of having to get a group together to grind a 12 man are there any suggestions?

    Thanks

There is a light armour robe that is a quest reward for one of the Vol 1 book quests that can be dyed completely black. I don't know the name offhand but will try to find it for you and post it. It is a quest reward for Vol 1, Book 13 [Have it in my vault dyed black atm but I'm stuck at work.]

The [armour]Robe of Viisaus[/armour]. And unfortunately, it is pretty much the only item you'll get to dye completely black (that a minstrel can wear, at least. I know some of the burglar outfits are pretty good at solid black.)

I thought this was a saturday morning cartoon special from this pic due to the flying naked hobbit on the sign and the toon being a hobbit itself with the rangermake hoodie

You can ctrl+right click things to pop open the dressing room window and see how they'll look on you. You can even select different dye colors from the dropdown menu that opens up. I obsessively ctrl+right click the vendor trash clothes I find just to see if they'll make for good outfit pieces. You can assemble some pretty unique outfits on the cheap that way.

The tailored elven light armor from I think level 48 or so (I just started playing after a long hiatus so I'm probably wrong about the level) dyes black really nicely. In its default state it's white with black trim and a dark green v-stripe thing on the chest. There's a shirt and pants. If you don't mind the dark green v, you'll be all black otherwise. I've seen a version with a purple v too; I think it's available from one of the vendors in Rivendell.

Another good starting point is to check the armor pieces sold by the vendors. They might not look like much in their natural state, but with ctrl+right click you can see how they'll dye. There are some boots available from a vendor in Bree somewhere (can't remember the name, long hiatus) that dye black really, really well. They're tall boots with buckles iirc.

I suppose that if I vendored mine, I am just out of luck.

Why go with something completely black? That's depressing, especially for a healing class.

I found one just like it on a random trash drop. Went for a good amount on AH.

It's not a common design, but the book one isn't the only one out there.

Stop eating all of the damn pies! But I understand, hard to find an outfit that doesn't make Fam look fat as far as the robes go (I hate dresses a lot of the time). Shame I'm in love with the Silver Voice robe.

I feel it suits the minstrel class a lot better. Kind of a priest look.

That's a book 13 reward? I thought it was only available as a rare dropped barter item from the Angmar battles.

    One good thing about cosmetics?

    1: Trait Medium Armor Use
2: Assign medium armor to cosmetics
    3: Unslot Medium Armor Use
    4: Profit!

    I wish I did.

Clarynette, do you remember the name of the Angmar one?

You don't even have to purchase the trait. Can stand next to the bard with it sitting in the window and still slot your cosmetics. Convenient!

    Re: Cosmetics

Speaking of slotting Medium Armor into cosmetics, I am a huge fan of Medium Armor dyed red. I can't recall the name of it, but there's a Medium helm you can get from completing Volume 2, Book 8, chapter something, I can't recall exactly. But I believe it comes from clicking the red glowing orb in either Hall of Mirrors of Waterworks. It looks really, really awesome with red dye. I'll see if I can link a screenshot later.
