I foresee the word "minstrail" becoming as commonplace as waden and guadian in the near future.

The second feign death skill is soooo useful when you're leveling. But when you hit 65, you won't use it much, if ever.

Still, Hobbits are epic. And they can stealth, which is useful anywhere.

Dwarfs are the best imo. They get actual battle shouts instead of just yelling all the time.

    Dwarves.

    +ICPR

    +ICMR

Axe use till you get to LIs.

-OCMR racial doesn't hurt you (heal yourself, duh )

    + 50 Vitality group buff

    + Fate

    Better sounding shouts

Temporary immunity to damage (very useful in conjunction with Lyric of the Hammerhand)

+ Block rating for more survivability

    Re: min

Dwarf probably gets the most good stuff. Better able to use a shield, racial fate increase, racial ICPR increase, and some common damage mit / extra morale.

Man has good stats, defenses, and an extra self heal, extra incoming healing.

Hobbit can feign death, and can sneak, and um.. they are cute?

elf can stealth and has decent fate.

Mostly, it does not matter, but if you want to max-min, those are the major points.

Beyond the best choice being whatever you want to look at the for the life of your character... I'm with the others that have said Dwarves.

You win a cookie. Okay, I don't have any cookies so you're getting +1 instead.

Edit: Okay so apparently I've given out too many +1 in the last 24 hours. So, uhhhh. Settle for a highfive?

LOL true, my first toon was an elf, I hated him.

Man or dwarf imo, if you are into PvP both are quite nice. But yeah, any works but avoid Elf unless you just have to play one.

    Hobbits are epic

But depending on your gameplay, some might use that second FD a lot. I always use it in PvP... well, use it a lot. Nothing as fun as getting a bunch of creeps to stand over you while your buddies DPS them to death while just standing there . Or my favorite, FD right when a reaver charges.

I sometimes use it solo, but rarely.

Where it really comes in handy is when learning raids. If it looks like a wipe, run to the door and FD. When learning a raid, you might wipe a lot and this will save you from releasing and running back (not to mention the repair bill).

But to the OP, as others have said, Dwarves also make great minstrels. Although if I had to choose another race for my minstrel, it would probably be race of man.

    Good luck and happy minstreling.

    Re: min

IMO Man is the best because of the huge self-heal, Strength of Morale. True, you can only use it once an hour, but I find it much more helpful than the other racial abilities.

Elves - helps to mitigate damage but doesn't help much if you're already very low morale
Hobbits - Feign Death will help prevent a complete wipe but I'd rather help win the fight
Dwarves - similar to Elven ability, won't help much if you're on the verge of death

Elf is the only race that actually has a racial ability that helps with healing. Eldar's Grace with +75% parry, which allows you to induct heals through being hit if Lyric of the Hammerhand is down. Just a thought.

Hmm, I use it ALL THE TIME at 65... but then that could just be me because I solo a lot, and I find it handy if I'm kiting to be able to run run run and then feign... without using my good feign up. Of course I'm partial to hobbits I could see the man-heal being useful too, for a Man minstrel that runs solo a lot. It all depends on your personal preference

    Re: min

Personally, if you PvP a lot or plan on it...Man.

Feign death is fun for an AoE creep root, but it usually doesn't help you live (unless the cavalry is close) it just makes them wait longer for the pretty purple numbers to scroll above them. I suppose a double FD would really be enjoyable to make them wait for what has to seem like half an hour, but you have to try and get it off before getting stunned/CJed on your first pop.

Don't really like the Dwarf endurance and Elf ballet...erm...evasions unless you are going to use them before you start getting targeted. As there is still a 25% chance to get DSed or VTed for major damage along with anything else being thrown at you.

For me Man heal is a great emergency skill as it gives you a direct morale and you are not left completely in the hands of the RNG gods that damage isn't inflicted through resists. I have often got off a man heal giving me enough health to hit a bubble and FH which changed the course of a fight.

    Just one PvP mini's perspective.

If you are talking about hunters though...hobbit all the way for a FD then in combat DF Make the creeps hate you again and give them a taste of the old days.

Ultimately it doesn't matter but for this class if I had to make a choice I'd choose dwarf since they can use axes as a racial bonus (normally minstrel's can't) and there are some NICE axes you can get before your first LI.

I'd say that picking Dwarf for the axes is a bad idea since you'll only be level 1-44 for a relatively short amount of time compared to how long you'll be 45+
