You know you are running with Mamacass when...

No matter where you go, a long line of angry bears is constantly tailing your raid

But we love our Mama aka "bear magnet" anyway

I don't have a dog right now (put my 16 yr. old down last year, that was hard). But I like big dogs and I have a tiny yard at the moment, so I'm biding my time. I *almost* got a "lap dog" earlier this year, but I puppysat a terrier for a week and it reminded me how much I don't care for small dogs.

I had an awsome Rotty! She was adopted by everyone who met her. I can talk pages about her. She saved my mom's life once and made the news. She passed away one nite as I was playing Lotro 2 yrs ago. I still break up when I think of that night. I couldnt log on for over a week. I now have a new pup and all is good. But I will never forget my Rot.
A salute to that original warg puppy Dredd...sounds like she was a great friend. When I was young my dad and my brother and sister were driving through the city where we lived and saw a little reddish brown dog sitting on a street corner looking confused and lonely. We all begged dad to stop but he was in a hurry and said that if it happened to be there on the way back then we might pick it up. A small prayer session was immediately held by us children in the back of the car. Thankfully what turned out to be a cute little female spaniel was still waiting on that street corner when we came back through and she happily jumped in with us, stumpy tail just wagging away with the excitement at having friendly little hands pet and care for her. She was cute as a button being a short haired dog, but having a wavy mop of hair on her head that drooped down to her eyes and for some reason she couldn't seem to keep the tip of her tongue from sticking out of her mouth, ever so slightly, even with it closed. Dad decided to put an add out informing that she was found, in case the owner was looking. Another prayer session was secretly formed against any such person contacting us. Well noone called, to our relief, and we enjoyed many years growing up and playing with that sweet little dog. Whenever I would go outside and sit in the yard she would come right over to lay down beside me and ponder whatever was on my mind at the time.

We eventually moved to another state and into a quieter country life far removed from the city. Gone was the fenced in yard with woods and fields to explore now, she loved it. Being adorable but not always the brightest little thing, she got herself into trouble a few times crossing the road even though it sat a ways up from the house and wasn't heavily trafficed. After a couple of bumps, bruises, and car horns she bounced back quickly and seemed to have learned how to handle herself when adventuring about... but one day while my mom, my siblings, and myself had taken a trip to visit friends back in the city we got a painful call from our dad who had stayed behind. Our little warg pup had been hit and she didn't pull through. I returned home and tearfuly buried her on a wooded hill behind the house. To this day I sure do miss that cute little face peeking out from the mop on her head and that stumpy little tail wagging away whenever she was greeting or being greeted. I hope Jesus has a special place made for beloved pets.

So sad. My family and I have the tradition that when we have to put one dog down, we rescue another from a humane society. It sure doesn't make losing a friend hurt any less, but saving the life of another does help fill that hole in your heart a little bit.

Gahhhh these posts are making me cry

If you've ever lost a special pet and haven't ever read the "Rainbow Bridge," it's a comforting thought. Having just lost my dearest pet of my life, I found this helped some.

My family has the most wonderful dog we've ever had right now, who is nearing the end of her life. She's a big black lab that I think was just meant to be in our family. My family adopted her when taking a quick pass through the shelter didn't really turn up a fit. As they were leaving, there she was - just brought in, her crate not even labeled yet. I cannot imagine a more loyal, sweet, safe and beautiful dog as this one. She's still swimming in the ocean daily at age 13

So this thread is Chicken Soup for the LOTRO soul...

I was galloping through the woods one day, dismounted to pick up a branch in the way so others wouldn't lame their horses, and my mother killed me...*tear*
