    Forum pruning question...

If I'm not mistaken, you lose reputation you gained in a thread when the thread gets deleted.

So, my question would be.... 1: Is that true? 2: If that's true, will we lose reputation from the pruning?

Pretty sure that only happens if it is manually deleted by a moderator for an infraction/whatever - the pruning is done via a script so it shouldn't have an effect on reputation.

Is that all people are worried about is their rep score. I turned mine off as it is a waste of time

I don't think so. I've been repped a couple of times in threads that were deleted and my rep was the same.

Whats really weird is how your post count stays the same when half your posts get deleted...

I probably have a fifth or so of my posts actually alive to be found right now.

I don't really care about the pruning, or the rep. I'm just wondering. Would be nice to know in advance.

They should have just done the pruning without making an announcement.

I think it is more of a waste of time to go into your user cp and look for where to turn it off than it is to simply not do that which does not waste any time at all.

No you do not lose the rep. What you will see, if a post you received rep for is deleted, is that thread will be listed as N/A in your control panel.

We don't update player post counts after the prunings. So your post count is not affected.

It's unfortunate that a bunch of threads got bumped that don't seem to deserve being kept, but there are a lot of good threads that would have been lost otherwise. Better to have a little chaff left in with the wheat than just throwing it all away.

Please purge the "one gold spam thread to rule them all" as it has 1800+ posts which are largely irrelevant now days.

It's a bad idea to purge threads like that in the event that the spammers find another way to get past all of the roadblocks that Turbine have set up. There needs to be a place for the mods to direct the hundreds of people that will create threads that will be closed.

I'm sorry, but that was not arrogant. There is a certain standard of posts that are OK to bump, as given by Turbine. It's their forum, so they set the rules, not me. Judging the bumped threads on that basis, some do not appear to meet the qualifications. How is that arrogant?

Folks, your stream-of-consciousness musings and "to whom it may concern" letters of complaint do NOT need to be raised from the dead and necroed to survive the forum pruning. Chances are if nobody cared a year ago nobody cares now.

We should be saving "how-to" threads, class guides, stat discussions, item/gear compendiums, etc. for future reference. Nobody has ever or will ever need to reference your diatribe on why you left the game last year, your explanation of your feelings after a raid last February 3, or that cool picture you found on Google images last summer.

Well, if you'd stop trolling, that wouldn't be a problem, now would it?

I'm sure Sapience and Patience are going to be quite busy deleting those on Pruning Day.

I can see your point, but think maybe they should at least prune the thread down from 1800+ posts (most of which just complaints about spam) to maybe the blue name posts.

The idea is to reduce the size of the database and 1800 posts would certainly help more than having all those complaints around for posterity sake.

A bunch? There's like 2 pages of threads on landy pvmp forums that don't meet the guidelines. :/
