    The Isengard Private Preview Program

    so......

last time i was looking, the thread:

    http://forums.lotro.com/showthread.php?t=319218

It was said they would announce if they had sent out acceptance letters or not for the program...

And the last known posts were:

    http://forums.lotro.com/showpost.php...&postcount=109

    http://forums.lotro.com/showpost.php...&postcount=111

Have apps already gone out? is this on the backburner?

I dont mind either way, I just want to know if the program already has its testers or if it was put on hold.

Re: The Isengard Private Preview Program

As far as I know, it's kaput. They never got the new server up and running in time for the program to be restarted, and now they're starting up a closed beta for the F2P launch, beginning in less than a week (so there's really no need for a separate NDA program). They unstickied (and Closed) the Isengard thread several weeks back and let it fall off the page.

If they ever start the program back up again, my bet is it's not likely to happen until after the relaunch, although they haven't said that explicitly.

    No, no, not 'kaput'.

While most of the difficulties with Isengard have been resolved (we have been using it internally for quite some time) the logistics for bringing it back online alongside the announcement for F2P were becoming complicated. We decided that backburnering the Private Preview Program and concentrating on a longer Beta program was our better use of resources at this time.

    Isengard is slated to return.

Poor choice of words. But I'm glad to hear confirmation it will eventually make a return... probably after the relaunch?

I'm guessing "logistics" means something like "We didn't want to take any chances on F2P getting leaked early, and we were having trouble building a codeline with Enedwaith but without all the F2P stuff in it".

If so, I can easily understand that... trying to maintain two different codelines with massive and overlapping changes in each is a nightmare.

Not to mention if they started it up now without much external testing (if any) it would compete with the upcoming closed beta. I look forward to them starting it up again after F2P comes out.

Shortly after hearing the F2P annoucement I thought the same thing. I certainly don't blame them as it would of been leaked the day Isengard opened.

Will you be re-opening applications when Isengard gets back up and going? I missed applying previously. If not that's fine too.

That's good to hear. I do hope you get it back up and running. Bullroarer can be a great testing platform, but a more dedicated testing program is valuable.

I would assume they will maintain the applications submitted earlier this year and use those for the restart, though maybe they'll open them up again since there will potentially be gobs and gobs of new players who might be interested.

For the initial start-up we will be sending the letters of acceptance that we held onto when the program went on unexpected hold back in April.

Once we are up an running smoothly we will re-open applications.

Thanks Kehleyr, I'll keep my fingers crossed for a F2P Beat invite and actually make sure I apply if/when you re-open.

By 'excepted' I'm going to guess you mean 'accepted', since 'excepted' would mean something far different , and no, since we don't have an active list the Beta program will be making their own decisions.

I was just thinking when the f2p announcement came out: "Whatever happened to Isengard?"

Thanks for the insight and heads-up Kehleyr!! I'm going to cross my eyes for me and Griffy
