I remember back in Ultima Online when Neon Hair Dye made an appearance. Soon you had naked people riding arond on horse back with bright neon hair and what was once a world built with very consistent and high standards soon ended up looking like a bad LSD trip. Do you realize they have sun glasses in that game now - that is one reason I couldn't bear to resub and ended up here.

A couple of screenshots of WOW was enough to cause me to never consider buying a subscription to that game. I'm sorry, but a sword the size of an ironing board is stupid. Most of the armor looks like something out of a Mardi Gras parade - a flamboyant world doesn't mesh well with the serious themes handled by the LOTRO Trilogy.

I don't want a game that appeals to 8 year olds with ADD. I want a refined world that continues to honor the lore in story and in appearance. Every thing I've seen so far has been pretty subdued but if the developers start chasing the bucks there will be the temptation of make more and more outrageous items and it won't be long before we've got a bunch of men standing aroud Bree all dressed up as Ronald McDonald. They'll have sun glasses and iPads. One of them will be holding a surfboard.

You guys are scaring the poop outta me.
I've purchased 3 lifetime subscriptions so far.
    Don't do this to me.
All I can say is Greegle Groggle!!!

    Ironic....in my humble opinion...

The thought of a game seeking out more revenue from new or existing subscribers to perhaps recoup on some of the dwindling returns off of fixed rates charged on the lifetime accounts. Personally, If my three accounts were lifetime accounts, I would be pleased to see them attempting to continue to keep the game going, thus extending my purchase value.

I bet you wear a pirate hat and eye-patch in this game along with the different colored mounts with fancy blankets on them or the clown-circus looking armor you can wear ....now what were you saying about a flamboyant world??? lol

What I do object to though is TURBINE making themselves out as following the lore when they decided to make players abandon their horse and grind rep/gold to replace it 7 levels later and after being well past the bulk of the content, when the Moria they created bore no resemblance to the 'mine-like' environment that JRRT described and in which quite patently not even a pony like Bill could venture.
I'm not saying this is why turbine tossed in the goat but this is my view on it, Moria was a huge expansion lots to explore and do however to keep people from blowing through the content (though i have no doubt people did) and hit the new level cap they implemented the only goat mount rule as a way to force you to level a little slower. And the slower you'd level and the more you'd grind the rep the more longer you'd stay in the game and subed. Also as there was nowhere to really go after moria they probably figured it was probably another thing to do at cap you had new skirms, instances/raid and new rep to grind. Thats probably also why there are two seperate rep gruops to grind and give the goats to one and the legendary trait to another. The fact its the only usable mount in Moria was kinda of a way to garuntee people would spend time grinding the rep.

i also guess that you have never been to or seen caverns with phosphorescent insects, plant-life or radium deposits?

I would pay so much to have a Predator mount i'd never get one shooted from my mount again

It's a very minor grind. I got enough rep without once grinding for it on my first character. Just do the quests and you'll get enough rep and rep barter items to get kindred with the miners. The snag is that without grinding or doing instances you probably won't have enough rep for both guards and miners. I just chose to give my barter items to miners first as I felt the goat was more important than the legendary for that class.

And the gold was not an issue. I don't play the auction house or craft stuff for sale or grind to get gold. But I have tons more than I can possibly use.

Running everywhere isn't a bad thing either. You make more money this way, you get much more familiar with the layout, and it makes the place feel larger.

woops then dis guy did it wrong lvl 61 an no where near kindred for either but that probably has more to with me lvling in loth at 56 then the difficulty of the rep grind in moria.

and i agree running everywhere is really underrated i mean once you find an outpost and get the travel point its really quite bearable to be mountless

We really don't need two threads on the same issue. Considering the newer thread has a bit more on topic discussion, please use that one from here out.
