I was posting in my favorite off-topic Thread About Nothing the other day, when I noticed something remarkable: The word "m u s t a r d" was censored by the forum filters!
Other than a ketchup salesman, I can't think of anyone who would want to censor m u s t a r d. Is Turbine beginning the censorship with selected condiments, with plans to branch out to other food groups in the near future?
I am aware that the last four letters of my condiment of choice is sometimes churlishly appended to a word to create a derogatory term, a practice of which I don't approve. To the best of my knowledge, however, there is nothing derogatory about m u s t a r d. "Hey, Lrn2Ply ya noob m u s t a r d" doesn't sound like much of an insult.
Since there is at least one legitimate word that ends in the aforementioned suffix, would a little tweaking of the forum filter be in order? And where did this arbitrary and blanket censorship originate? I'll hazard a guess: Colonel Mus****, with the Blue Pencil, in the WB Law Department.
