The forum is now censoring condiments?!

I was posting in my favorite off-topic Thread About Nothing the other day, when I noticed something remarkable: The word "m u s t a r d" was censored by the forum filters!

Other than a ketchup salesman, I can't think of anyone who would want to censor m u s t a r d. Is Turbine beginning the censorship with selected condiments, with plans to branch out to other food groups in the near future?

I am aware that the last four letters of my condiment of choice is sometimes churlishly appended to a word to create a derogatory term, a practice of which I don't approve. To the best of my knowledge, however, there is nothing derogatory about m u s t a r d. "Hey, Lrn2Ply ya noob m u s t a r d" doesn't sound like much of an insult.

Since there is at least one legitimate word that ends in the aforementioned suffix, would a little tweaking of the forum filter be in order? And where did this arbitrary and blanket censorship originate? I'll hazard a guess: Colonel Mus****, with the Blue Pencil, in the WB Law Department.

    Maybe "musatrd" is lore breaking.

    (misspelling on purpose BTW).

I think you hit the nail on the head though, it's probably that four letter word that's messing you up.

You hit the nail on the head, OP. It's those last 4 letters.

On a related note, try writing this guy's name - I believe attempting to is met with a ban.

Has anyone had any problems with custard?

Edit: Hmmm, apparently while sharing the characteristics of being yellow and paste-like, it is somehow less offensive than mustard!

Edit2: OK, so either they have fixed something, or is is context dependent! The plot, like the custard, thickens.

    leotard
    mustard

So the person who was planning to censor all words with these last four letters in them must have given up only moments after they started?

Lazy oaf. And to single out a beloved hot dog topping... for shame.

Wow! Mustard. That was a remarkably quick fix. Thanks! Whose debt are we in?

And does this mean that the four basic food groups are no longer threatened?

Yeah, it was those guys. I'd bet my bottom dollar on it.

No way! My RK liberally coats his stone with the yellow stuff for more sizzle. As Casey Stengel said, you can look it up.

There was a filter in place that edited any use of those four letter. Sadly this was done because people seem to think it's a valid suffix for describing people, classes, or any other thing they disagree with. It's been removed but if the community feels the need to start misusing it again, it can just as easily be turned back on.

I'll direct my thanks at Sapience. If I'm wrong, he may correct me.

EDIT: Argh! He beat me to it!

So... no derogatory use or no mustard for us?

Does this mean I have to stop calling people who anger me "mustardhead"? If so, I have "mayobrain" on standby.

Maybe it'd be worth saving the mustard and custard fans of LotRO any future grief and just adding the silly Hunter to the list of filtered words so it doesn't become an issue?
