Notice at the Top of the Forums Pages

I never noticed this before (the yellow text in a notice on the top of the forums pages):

Server Maintenance Reminder
The LOTRO Game Servers and http://myaccount.turbine.com will be offline for maintenance on Monday, August 30 from 6:00AM to 2:00PM Eastern (-4 GMT). The forums and wikis will remain up, but players may not be able to log in. Thanks for your patience, and we'll see you back in the game soon!

I like it! In fact, I think I like it better than the regular way of posting notices... you just can't miss this notice, even if you navigate in to the forums without seeing the "Regular" forums home.

I like it! In fact, I think I like it better than the regular way of posting notices... you just can't miss this notice, even if you navigate in to the forums without seeing the "Regular" forums home.

Is it temporary or is it a new thing?

Because we now disable to front page view of the forums during maintenance and heavy loads we also lose the downtime notices on that page which seems to cause some confusion. To help mitigate this, we'll be using the forum notices to serve as a constant reminder (and provide updates) when we have server maintenance.

This is nothing new to beta players, they're used to seeing big red warning messages when they log in.

Yes were are. It is a great way to inform us. I am very grateful to see it being used on the live forums.

I love this feature I figured we were having Monday Maintenance Madness when I couldn't log in, I'd forgotten the announcement on Friday, and then poof! yellow text letting me know what I'd already assumed without me having to find the post. I appreciated the reminders in Beta so I sure love this feature going to live forum too

I always make folders and bookmarks that go straight to the forums, so nifty. Don't think I've purposefully viewed the front page since release.

The funny thing is that it will help relatively few people. I mean, you have the massive numbers of players who never even read any forums, ever. They'll never see it. And then you have the forum regulars who do see it, but are also familiar enough with how the forums work that they regularly check Dev Tracker too, and see the maintenance announcements regularly anyway.

So this "billboard" announcement is really for that narrow band of readers who do visit the forums but don't regularly check the Dev Tracker, and as a friendly reminder for those of us who forget what we _did_ read on the Dev Tracker lol.

Having said all that, I really like it. And as someone mentioned, it is a lot like the NDA reminders (they have red text rather than yellow, generally) you see on the Beta forums.

I think Ceolford is right: "a minor but nice addition."

I really love this change as well. For people that don't look at the forums it obviously won't help but I would hope that knowing that services notices are posted on the forums will bring more people to check them out. If you don't visit myLOTRO and the forums, even casually, you are really missing out on part of the game and the community.
