Scholar's Guild Scrolls after Kindred - useless?

Is there any point to crafting Scholar's Guild Scrolls (other than those I need directly for recipes) after reaching Kindred? I can't find anything to do with them except barter them for bigger scrolls, which seems so pointless it's almost funny. How about the leftover ones clogging up my vault - sell 'em?

Nope. All the guilds are the same way. There is only two reasons for making an emblem:

    1) You need crafting guild reputation
    2) You going to use it as a component in a guild recipe

Leftovers. If you can not find a recipe to run. Destroy them. You can not sell them.

Potions will be big sellers when the wardrobe goes live next month. There are a bunch of guild recipes for making dyes (makes a stack of 5 instead of 1 iirc). Red and black are always good sellers.

I would never take this advice to destroy them.

The largest symbol in each tier is good for making potions - which sell well on the AH.

Any smaller scrolls you can trade up to the larger ones instead of wasting them.

For example if you want to make power and health pots then once a week you can make a large scroll and make one of those two. If you make the medium scrolls also then when you have 5 medium you can get an extra large and make both items that time.

But you are correct in that T5 and T6 medium scrolls do not have any recipes that they can be used on so after you get kindred the only use of these 2 scrolls is to trade up.

Small scrolls are good for dyes

What do you suggest I do with them? If I have no recipe that I want to run that will consume them. The alternative is to lock the vault space forever. This situation is not acceptable. Lotro is not like Eve Online where you can keep 'in theory' an infinite amount stuff. We are very limited in space. On Meneldor, a lot of dyes do not sell. I do not see the point of making five dyes so that you can vendor the dyes.

Re: Scholar's Guild Scrolls after Kindred - useless?

My Scholar sells a ton of Dyes. Depending on the tier, each one of those uses a Small Guild Scroll of some type. So I have stacks of each as back-up. Although this may not be as relevant after F2P launch since peeps will be able to buy Dyes in the Turbine Store.

I have a stack of Large Guild Scrolls that I'm just sort of saving. You never know when they might become relevant, and since they are on a one week cd, you don't to be left scrambling should you need them.

The dyes may not sell well now, but I bet they will when people start using the new wardrobe on sept. 8.

Along with the other reasons posted above, remember that at some point in the future there will need to be a new level added to the guilds beyond kindred to keep up with new crafting tiers. You can turn in those leftover scrolls to raise your rep at that time.

I was just suggesting that they make enough to upgrade to a scroll that is useful then stop making the ones they don't use anymore.

Note: with the wardrobe coming I believe dyes will enjoy an increase in demand.

Re: Scholar's Guild Scrolls after Kindred - useless?

Since the store points are going to be a valuable thing and a limited resource to players, I imagine certain things will still be selling on the AH. I can tell you that I wont be spending my points on dyes of all things... there will likely be more desired things at the store that I will be using points for. And remember that the F2P toons will not be getting points, as far as I understand it only the VIP (subscription) players will be getting points an a regular basis. So crafting will still be a very viable thing to do. And the lower level scrolls will come in handy for the lower tier items that the F2P players will be wanting.
As the game continues to grow, the rep level is not likely to change (not until top level goes up), but they are likely add recipies and such with content, so I don't imagine the scrolls will be necessary for rep anytime soon

*Correction, even F2P people will get points, but a lot less than subscription players. So unless people are spending lots of real money buying points then the crafted materials will still be in demand.

the medium scroll is worthless --- but you can save them up and barter those for the bigger one.

the small scrolls produce dye, which can be sold for a nice sum; 5 black or red dye nets me at least 300 silver a day, and sometimes when the market flutters as much as 500-750 silver a day. The dye market is very spastic though.

The larger scrolls produce 25 crit potions, which are decent for use when soloing or doing light content. The best potions cannot be made this way at this time.

The lower tier rep items are mostly useless unless you need lower tier potions, however you can try to sell the more common dyes (not really worth it, many sell for no better than vendor price).
