Is it true? Cooks getting nerfed?

I heard cooks are no longer going to be able to cook regen food. Regen will only be purchasable with TP.

    Is this true??

What if I have stacks of regen food when FTP goes live? Will become {rotten} food... [This item is no longer used] (like the old Legendary pages became).

Uhhh, sorry if this has already been discussed to death. Don't linch me...

No idea where you heard that, but it's not true. Food was just changed so that it no longer pulses morale/power. Everything is straight ICMR/ICPR now. Unfortunately, those who have taken the time to run the numbers have reported it to be a nerf to the food, so that's sad.

The only way I can play LOTRO is using my cooks critted food which gives me PLUSES to my hit points and power. Its not possible to play standing around 10 minutes after fighting one monster to heal up and re power up. I just spent 2 months changing from Jewellery Crafing Guild to Cooks Guild and making another character alt become a new Jewellery Crafting Guildhall kindred fully and only for the purpose of making the level 50 - 60 faction recipes to make food for those pluses. There is no food if it doesn't have pluses it will only be that stuff where you use it ones and it gives you +700 health +1000 power one time and is gone.

I will be steaming if this is the case.

It is a nerf to the food.

In the old way an ICMR/ICPR negation effect would not affect food, so you still got the HoT/PoT effects. In the new way food is subject to the negation.

Now, it's only a nerf for content with such effects. This includes some end-game SoM content, but it also includes an open-world area in the Drownholt. It's hardly going to put cooks out of business, but it makes one of their products less useful than it used to be in some cases.

OK, thanks for clearing that up. I'll have words with the person who TOLD me this... lol.

I'm all for ICxR than pulses myself anyway... As ICxR updates your stats ever 5 or so seconds.

The new food regen is IN-COMBAT, so assuming they didn't change the numbers, the effect should be the same as the old food......except when your IC regen gets negated.

Actually the numbers are higher ICPR and ICMR compared to prior. The thing that has been removed from the equation which may seem like a nerf is that since there are no more pulses the incoming heal rating effect is gone. That had a tendency to inflate the amount of heals/power that was coming in from food. The numbers are higher and the only nerf are those that live and die for the LT.

humm. with no debuffs going on the new food has exactly the same benefits as the old food.
just instead of it being a pulse it is an increase in regen rates both in combat and out of combat to varying degrees depending on which food you use.

For champs it is actually better because the pulses would be smaller when in fervor and with it changing the regen rates they will actually get more healing from it.

Ahh, this is a good explanation of the reason behind it. As noted above, good news for champs. What about tanks, though? Is the increased effect enough to account for a solid +Incoming Healing rating?

Well In beta Lorien Waybread is +320 ICPR and +431 ICMR. As it stands on live, the pulses are 198 Morale every 30 sec which is +396 ICMR. Power pulses at 148 Power every 30 sec which is +296 ICPR. Incoming Heal rating will continue to boost heals from active sources (i.e. Pots, Minstrels, Captains, RKs, LMs) just not food. I believe one of the underlying reasons to make this change was to reduce server load since extra calculations had to be made per player to account for the Incoming Heal rating. Tanks will see this as a nerf while Champs stand to gain the most. Time for healers to get their outgoing heal ratings up Removing debuffs will be more important as well -- Don't be afraid to hit a draught/salve even though somebody in the group can remove a debuff with a skill. Nothing is as ironic (and entertaining) as watching a LM, who doesn't slot PAAI or carry wound pots, die from a wound.

    No debuff or nerf?

Tell that to the hunter who is one axe stroke away from the spawn circle outside the instance but who has no pots available and who now will no longer will get a pulse in less than 30 seconds that will save their life.

HATE this - of all the things I dislike about the new LOTRO this is by far the most offensive to me.

Actually, the new food would be statistically better in that situation. If the Hunter is actually one hit away from death, they obviously can't wait 30 seconds for a pulse of ~200 morale. In one more hit that would be gone anyway. But with the new food, the Hunter's morale is constantly increasing every couple seconds by the additional amount without having to wait for any pulse.

Agree with Gildhur. If any class is only 1 hit away from being defeated and the next regen pulse is 15 seconds away, what is the chance that the player won't get hit by anything for the next 15 seconds? ICMR regens more often than the old one-pulse-every-30-seconds.
