    New Guardian

    Hello fellow guardians.

    I have joined your club!!!

I have a couple questions. I currently sit at level 39.

What do you use for your special little friend in skirmishes? I have been using a banner guard to some success, but was wondering if I might be better off using an herbalist.

Also, what stance is the best to use? I usually like to use the Parry stance, but I see quite a few going Block.

    Thoughts?

Welcome to the guard! I roll with a warrior and go in block stance, fullout ax and board all the way. I tank everything to death while my warrior aoes and breaks their armor and it works rather well. At least thats how I did it when leveling, and especially like it now at the end game levels with a legacy making Catch a Breath every 15 seconds

For skirmishes I run in OP with a 2-hander and use an herbalist to pump me up with morale and power.

I use OP with a healer... of course my healer's kinda dumb, but I'm hard enough to deal with it.

At 65 I've been doing skirmishes in OP with a sage pet. If I had to reroll, I'd change the sage to an archer. Unless you ratchet up the tier and the relative level, you're in no danger of dying in OP mode in a skirmish. If you do raise the tier and/or level, then I suppose a healer may become necessary, but so far I have found choosing defensive training traits combined with a pet that is huge DPS will mow through anything quickly enough to win.

    Re: New Guardian

I've tried both sides of this now, having our skirmish marks reset by the last update. I was running skirmishes very safely and reliably with a leveled Warrior and myself in sword'n'board -- Warrior compensated for the lack of DPS and a tanking Guardian has no issues with Power nor Morale.

That being said, after the reset I decided I wanted to try the Overpower method, having a Herbalist while strolling around with a nice two-hander. I haven't reached the levels of skills, ultimates and etceteras that I had with my Warrior, but you can already tell that this is a very viable and FUN alternative to the tanking methodology. One large difference that I found is that a Herbalist is a viable companion from the get-go, whereas the other soldier archetypes need far more investment before they start to show their benefits.
