I don't have the option to edit signature in the CP. When I click on the direct edit signature link above it says "Sorry, you are not permitted to have a signature."

I'm a monthly subscriber, & I have exactly this same problem.

Edit: I don't know if this means anything at all, but I can't change my avatar, either -- the official Turbine avatars are "available" to me, but no matter which I pick, no avatar appears on my posts, & no amount of uploading a custom avatar seems to work, either.

Could this have anything to do with the fact that I am a Premium player who used to have just a trial account?

I suspect this has something to do with it; I'm a subscriber, but I came back to the game as a Premium account, then re-subbed after a couple weeks of F2Ping.

If by custom you mean our Turbine generated character signature images, you have those available:

1. Go to http://forums.lotro.com/profile.php?do=editsignature
2. Go through the steps in the "Character Signatures" box; this will create a snippet of text in the "Step 3" portion.
3. Cut and paste that text into the "Edit Signature" box and click the "Save Signature" button.

At first step i get message:

Sorry, you are not permitted to have a signature.

I should mention that i was also affected by having a beta account and was not even able to access this forum name for a few weeks... Not sure if that matters... My beta forum account also could not edit signature. Lifetime founder....Not sure if that matters either.

I think, that in your particular case...they're just doing it to break your emersion. :-)

I am having the exact same problem, and I am a subscriber...

I have no "User CP" nor "Edit my signature" option, and when visiting the direct link I get the same "not permitted" message...

I have no idea what changed, but I checked today, and now I can set a signature. Hopefully it works.

I still can't choose a custom avatar, but maybe that's only for VIPs?


Edit: Woot, sig works. Avatar is still busted though, even when picking from the list.

They had this problem in DDO not too long ago, and it took a few months before it was completely straightened out......

I had the exact same problem as the one who started this thread.
My "solution" was to change the "undefined" to my character's name. Copy and paste the code (with the undefined changed) and press save... some 50 times...
Eventualy it worked.
I get similar problems when pressing other links. I had to press "Reply" twice to reply in this thread, for instance...
