So, I organized a group for tonight meant to bring together experienced, ranked creeps with warleaders at the forefront of their existence. The idea was that we would support several such warleaders in any way we could... map quests, destiny, and infamy. Being a warleader myself, I knew a raid full of warleaders was instant fail, so I limited the spots to two per group, and built us with our other classes.
We started the night with what I hoped to start with... rank 0 warleaders. There were four at the out-go. We had a few rank 2-5 warleaders as well, and some progressing from rank 6-9.
I asked Maggotstew to lead this group. While it was my idea to form it, I know I cannot lead well and support heal, and Maggotstew is many things. He is fantastically patient, and a great teacher, and responsible for, I have no doubt, many creeps learning to play better. He helped me, WAY back in the day when I was small and new.
We began with the philosophy we would get some DP, some map items, and some infamy. We took off first to Arador's end, and took that outpost.
After this, we headed off to get more map points, but the ultimate goal was rank and bubbles, and we managed to hit a really epic LC fight. A group took the tyrant at South Hill and we rolled right in behind them, defeated that group, and took the keep back within three minutes of the flip.
This was a pretty epic feeling, in a group that was fairly the open raid, and had MORE than 6 rank 0s... totally inexperienced on their class. But the cohesion in this raid was phenomenal. Target focus was on point, without question, and unschooled, which is extremely rare in an open raid!
Thanks, again, to Maggot for leading this raid... I spawned the idea, but knew I needed someone else to lead it -- it is very hard to lead as a warleader and support your group as you need to, and reavers are great creep leaders in that manner. We posed for a picture with our noob raid...
In the end, it's a night with zero complaints. Thank you so much to Maggotstew for leading us, and for his teachings and wisdom. I remember when I was new to the server and new to big raids and I learned about directional selectional indicator because he stood there and told me about it. What a patient soul! I'm posting this link, to a video I made of my first Maggotstew raid, as a tribute. You rock, brother.
Here, too, is a quote from tonight: "Death is temporary. Infamy is forever."
And.. just so you know... we ranked 4 new warleaders to bubble level tonight. This raid was win.
