The Fall of Moria (Session play)

    Known issue:

The Fall of Moria (Session play)

    * This sessoin play instance is currently unavailable. This will not impact your ability to complete the Volume II epic story line. It is a completely optional quest.

    ---

Any idea when this wil be playable again? If I skip it since its not working currently and go into moria will I still be able to come back when its fixed and available to play again?

    Cheers.

Yes you will. If you choose to skip it while in the Intro to Moria instance (the area between Eregion and Moria) then the quest will be offered by the dwarf standing outside of the gate in Eregion.

Good. If that were not the case, I would recommend anyone getting near the end of the Walls of Moria instance wait, play an alt, do something else until the instance gets fixed. That sequence, the glimpse of Durin and of Moria at the height of its glory, is worth waiting for. (To say nothing of the glimpse of the live Balrog....)

I wish I could go back and do it again. I love that quest!

Re: The Fall of Moria (Session play)

The Fall of Moria is available in a few different places.

If you finish all the Expedition quests at Hollin Gate, Rathwald will offer it to you outside the instance door.
If you don't finish all the Expedition quests, Skygni in the Twenty-first Hall will offer the session to you after you complete Volume 2 Book 2.

And Nymphonic, you can go back and do this session, and any other session you have completed before. In a gazebo in Rivendell there is a book on a table. Interact with that book, and you may repeat any session you have already completed. There are no rewards for doing so beyond enjoying some of (in my opinion) the best content in the game.

When The Fall of Moria is available again, it can be accessed from these three places.

    Enjoy!

You must have missed the memo. It is repeatable. Go to Rivendell. There is a book in one of the Gazebos. When you use the book, all the completed session plays are available.

Note: I have not been to Rivendell to verify that the Volume 3, Book 3 - Gondor Session play was added to the list.

Sigh - I did not read all the responses. Oh well...

Just curious why is the format of this quest a session play? Is it possible for a large number of players to enter it and defeat the balrog?

Yes. Like the known issues thread and the very first post of this thread says, the session play is currently unavailable.

Because it depicts an event that takes place way in the past and one your character was not part of. Session play allows Turbine you let take part in events that your character is not/was not/would not be part of, without breaking lore/immersion by placing your character in the middle of the story.

I have. I can verify that the Vol 3, Book 3 session play is available to repeat in Rivendell.

You are playing an NPC in a scripted story

No. Since it is a scripted story. It is a private instance. You are one of the NPCs that is part of the story.

I was strictly referring to quest rewards and/or coin, but I stand corrected. You can earn destiny points by repeating the session play. Thanks, Unixbomber, and good catch!

I believe it's available as a Movie or as a Reflecting Pool Session or something. Or will be when it's back up.

DP is only a useful reward for players who are currently subscribed (VIP). Still, its content worth enjoying!

Others have already said No, and explained the in-game reason why: it's a session play and you're channeling some Dwarf that lived in the days of Durin VI.

The Lore reason, of course, is No you do NOT get to kill the Balrog, GANDALF is going to kill the Balrog and die in the process, much later.

(Please note that the Balrog and Gandalf are essentially the same kind of creature: Maiar specializing in Fire. Nearly they fell who stand....)

This is a different question. Don't you get this instance quest if you're f2p and haven't got Moria expansion or quest pack? Because I completed all the expedition quests but didn't get it, but my VIP friend did.

It was quite a disappointment, only healed after doing that Chamber of Mazarbul session play in the Epic. Now I do have Moria pack and did it with the quest from Skygni. So got to see the balrog two times.

I assume at the moment you don't get this quest simply because its disabled; When the quest is fixed, check again
