Dont forget there are a lot more people that will be patching now that we EU players are here, so I hope they have taken that into account

If they haven't accounted for this, they need to learn for next time.
Of course, it's not an easy job to calculate just how many clients that need to be patched up on launch day, and not easy to calculate how many are going to be patching the minute the patch server goes online, but surely they learned from the whole migration deal, with the migration site being put under severe pressure?

Or, one would hope, at the very least.

Some humans have it in their nature to treat events like this as a competition, to be first patched, first logged in, first to the new zones, first to 75. Many humans have it in their nature to be impatient when waiting, and to be vocal about their impatience, not out of ennui but just because it's fun to share. And most humans have it in their nature to be excited about the arrival of something new and long-anticipated!

It's there are according to the window, there are 5080 game data files to be updated

Actually I can be patient for patching, but these forums drive me bonkers. After a year this issue is still around, specially when they are getting pounded. aarrrgghhhh!

It's a real pity the patch servers are still down, as this means everyone is going to be hitting it at the same time, as people will be coming back from work soon in Europe, while anyone who isn't working in the US should be up by now or getting up soon. If the servers had been up earlier, as they appeared to be for a short period, it would have split the load a bit.

Come on Turbine, I thought things were going to be quick when you took the servers down at 3am. 8 hours later and we haven't even started patching, let alone logging into the game. Get the patch servers up, please!

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones, i was patched up by approx midnight to 1am my time (GMT+12 - New Zealand) - just wish the servers would come up soon though, its 4am here right now which by my count is 11am in the states so i should still have a good amount of the day to play lotro during the hours i would normally be awake if i hadn't slept yesterday afternoon to sync my body clock with the server time, lol

I was lucky too, in a way. I started up LOTRO on my laptop and on my wife's laptop at the same time, several hours ago. My machine patched, while her's hung on Examining (as has happened to many others). Mine patched up fine, so after trying again and again without success on my wife's machine, I'm manually copying my patched version of LOTRO to her machine.

She is currently at the dentist.
She has tonight off, because of this procedure.
She is going to kill me if she can't play LOTRO tonight, should she wish to.

So I'm taking proactive steps to save my own skin.

Could try it as a last resort. But I am sure I will be able to patch it soon.. hopefully. Just weird how my launchers been running at least 20 minutes more than his and mines is stuck.

Game servers will be up sooner than soon but not soon enough or before sooner rather than later. Of course, they may be up sooner than that.
