Well, I'm glad I started manually copying my patched LOTRO folder over to my wife's laptop a couple of hours ago, because she still can't connect to patch. I've been trying everytime the patch servers have been up, and first she had the "Stuck at Examining" issue, and now she simply fails to connect.

I'm sorry, but that's ridiculous. My laptop patched just fine hours ago, and yet hers can't? I understand there's a demand, but this really is over the top. I've been here since 2007, and never had difficulties like this with LOTRO on an expansion day.

So, in short: Apparently copying over 13GB of data from one laptop to another - over a wireless connection, no less - is faster than trying to patch one of those computers normally. Awesome.

heh, just wish either of the computers here had managed to do anything, both have been tring to patch since about 11 and neither have got anywhere.

One computers here has been done for about three hours and sadly it is not mine (my computer did have the launcher running since 10am GMT). I am still stuck on connect after restarting everything over and over. But my hope of patching before the rest of the UK work force get home isn't going to happen unfortunately.

I am from the UK and have the same problem of not being able to connect. However I did find that although the client hangs on 'examine programs' during the update process, it's really just extremely slow. I actually did manage to update the full patch by about 11:00 am this morning.

Yep you cant login the servers once patched so its really no big deal. Just hate it when things dont work and I cant figure it out since its not on me end.

My wife and I work nights. So in 'normal people terms', I'm staying up late trying to get my wife's computer patched, so she might be able to play later. I am already good-to-go, although I won't be playing for a few days, I'm sure. But my wife has tonight off, due to a dental appointment she's currently at, so I'm trying to make sure she'll be ready to go when the servers do come up.

This isn't about missing out, it's about taking care of my wife.

It is a bit fun to see so many ppl rip their hair out over not beeing able to patch yet..Well when u do like i was fortunate enuff 30min ago its FAST. Still the worlds are down so who really cares if u patched 5 hours ago or if you get to patch now..can't play anyway ;D

I just wish game companies just said game will be down for 24hours then nobody could post a gazillion complain posts about it all. Then again 24 hours for addicts is like goin without "insert drug of choice" i guess ..withdraaaaaaawl

Maybe if the people who have already patched could stop trying to reconnect, it'd be easier for the rest of us to connect and get patched as well

It seems that, if we want to stand a chance of being patched by the time the servers go up, we're expected to sit at the PC and constantly restart the client until we can connect. Awesome!

Just remember...whatever your final time of deploy is...theoretically it is 24 hours ahead of schedule

I only just started trying around 20 minutes ago (17:00 GMT) I keep getting "Connection Attempt Failed" retying.............

Guess I should just let it keep trying till it gets there.

Okay, that makes more sense. Still, are you assuming that if you just leave the launcher running it will bug out and never patch while you sleep? I didn't even have to restart my launcher, it just started patching after a long time of failed connections. And it just finished, about fifteen minutes later. Unbelievably quick patch.

1. Wife
2. God (or lack thereof)
3. Wife
4. Wife
5. Money

7. Wife's Family
8. House (or living quarters)

11. Me
12. Global Warming

If you have kids, they are a subset of wife and therefore must be taken care of immediately after you take care of wife.

This is a very long thread, someone care to summarize why I can't patch?

Why would you have to restart the client? it auto retries every minute...i kept mine open and when i bothered checking it it had alrdy patched all of a sudden.
